Cecil Hills Public School

Term 1 Week 10 – 31st March, 2014

Anti-Bullying Day
This week Kindergarten will be involved in an Anti-Bullying Day which will include
lessons and a performance by Toonschool. At Cecil Hills we have zero tolerance
for bullying. Children will be learning what bullying is, how they can deal with it
and where to go for help. They will also be reminded of appropriate behaviour in
the playground and classroom.

Letter – Sound table:

 For the last two weeks of term we will be revising all of the sounds we have taught
this term.

Homework
Homework is handed out Mondays and due back to school on Fridays. Please
complete the sight word worksheet, sound worksheets and the maths
worksheet found in the scrapbook. Children should also be reading their home
reader every night and practising their sight words. All homework and sight
word books are handed to the teacher every Friday for marking. This will be
the last week for homework this term.

News
This week’s news topic is – What I like about school.
Upcoming Events
On Friday 11th April (last day of term 1) we will be having our Easter Hat Parade
from 11.20am. Children are asked to make an Easter hat to wear in the parade
at home. Please do not put chocolates on the hats as they tend to melt!

Easy Easter hat ideas

 Adapt a simple straw sun hat into an Easter bonnet.

 Make a simple Easter bunny mask instead.
 An Easter bunny crown is another easy hat that can be made at home.
 A trip to the dollar shop for a sparkly hat to transform into a jazzy masterpiece for
the Easter hat parade is so simple!
 Create a garden hat complete with flowers for a twist on the traditional Easter
bonnet.
 Make a cardboard bonnet that will suit a boy or a girl and then let the child decorate
the Easter hat.
 Buy some cheap ready-made chicks from your local craft shop and use PVA glue to
stick them to the brim of a hat.
 Visit your local two dollar shop and see what options are available sparkly bowler hats,
cheap caps, sun hats and even readymade bunny hats are the easiest option. If you
want to take it a bit further, buy some decorations and glue and allow your child to
decorate it as they wish.
 Buy a large sheet of cardboard at the newsagents and let your child decorate it with
textas, card cutouts, stickers or streamers and ribbons. After this, fold the paper
into the shape of a cone and secure it using a tape or stapler. To tie it to the child,
add elastic thread or ribbon on both ends to keep it in place under the child's chin.

Have fun and we hope to see you there!

Thank You!
