Task 2
1. Nowadays an increasing number of people are leaving their jobs in
companies and corporations to start their own businesses. This trend is quite
popular among young people especially those with a high level of education.
Some people believe that this tendency is increasing more and more rapidly
in many parts of Vietnam. What are the main causes of the tendency?

1. One of the main reasons for this is because of higher income.

Self-employers who are well-educated may successfully operate their
businesses to earn more money than being employed.
For example, in Vietnam, the yearly income of a self-employed
is about $15,000 which is triple the average salary of an office
worker every year.
As a result, numerous young people quit their
work to self-employee.
2. The other reason is the government’s encouragement.
This is due to the fact that Vietnamese government develops more
policies to support entrepreneurs to develop the national economy.
This promotion has a positive impact which helps new
companies overcome difficulties at the early stage of operating
such as capital, certificates and so on.
If there was no assistance from the government,
setting a business would be a trouble for new
companies.
2. The number of children playing computer games has significantly increased
over recent decades. People have different opinions about the effects of games on
young players. Some regard video games as harmless fun or even a useful
educational tool while others believe that video games are having negative effects
on children. Discuss negative impacts of playing computer games on children and
suggest some measures to limit the negative effects.
1. One of the chief disadvantages of playing computer games at an early age is
heath harmfulness.
If children spend too much time playing video games, they may be
nearsighted or even blind because of the harmful screen light.
For instance, nine in ten children playing video games usually wear
glasses.
To avoid the sequel of computer games to children health,
parents should manage the time their children using computers.
2. The other negative effect is psychological issues.
This is due to the fact that the boom of massive computer games
designed with inappropriate contents or images which makes children
become more violent, or even behave aggressively.
These troubles will be tackled if game designers create
appropriate games for young users and the authorities issue
legal principles for game developers.
3. Nowadays, there are an increasing number of high school graduates choosing to
attend university rather than vocational schools teaching skills related to specific
jobs. However, there is a lack of skilled workers such as electricians, builders or
plumbers for labour markets. Therefore, more students should be encouraged to
go to vocational schools. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this
opinion.
1. Colleges and universities offer students qualified teaching and learning.
Because students will be equipped with great knowledge and vision to
become intellectual personnel, high- ranking management positions, or
contribute academic research in the future.
For instance, business major students at University of Economics Ho
Chi Minh City are trained in administration and management skills
work at companies. Students will have a chance to do an internship at
financial companies.
As a result, job seekers graduating from colleges and
universities has put a premium on the competitive job market.
2.Vocational schools do not provide learners a perfect environment to
comprehensively develop themselves.
This is due to the fact that most of their courses focus on practicing major
subjects without broadening learners’ further vision.
It has a negative effect that there will be a shortage of well-educated
workforce to enhance the national economy.
If the teaching and learning quality, as well as infrastructure of
vocational schools, are improved, there will be more people
choose to study there.

4.Today in many countries, children and young people are among the biggest
group of Internet users and other communication devices. They can enjoy great
benefits from the Internet and modern communication technologies. However, they
can be exposed to many risks as well. Therefore, online safety programmes on how
to use the Internet and modern communication technologies wisely should be
included in primary and secondary school curriculum. Discuss the possible dangers
of the Internet and communication technologies and the benefits of online safety
program for primary and secondary students.
1. one of the main disadvantages of the internet and communication technologies is
health harmfulness.
If children spend too much time playing video games, they may be
nearsighted or even blind because of the harmful screen light.
For instance, nine in ten children playing video games usually wear
glasses.
To avoid the sequel of computer games to children health,
parents should manage the time their children using computers.
2.Another upside of using the internet and communication equipment is that people
may become victims of cybercrimes.
This is due to the fact that criminals use social networks to incite innocent
people to conduct frauds such as trafficking, invading privacy, anti-state,
and so on.
It has numerous negative impacts that users’ information may be
revealed, or even more seriously, life-threatening.
The issue will be prevented if the government strictly issue
private policies.
3. the benefits of online safety program
… enable students to choose the realiable online resources which has
positive impacts on their studying
….become professional Internet users -> learn how to protect themselves
when utilizing the internet and other means of technological
communications.
5. Some people may argue that many Vietnamese students study English for years,
but not many of them can use English to communicate well. In order to improve
the quality of English learning and teaching in Vietnam, it is strongly
recommended that English should be taught by native English teachers only.
Do you agree or disagree with this opinion
6. Nowadays, more people decide to have children later in their life. this tendency
can be seen frequently especially in many developed countries. New data show that
the number of American women having kids after age 35 is continuing to grow.
There are some reasons leading to this trend and it certainly will have great
impacts on family and society. Discuss the reasons for this trend and its impacts on
family and society.
Reason 1 -> women want to invest more time in developing their career.
Because: having a baby will take them a lot of time to take care of their
children.
For example, my sister got married at 25 years old -> now She is 35 years
old and does not have time for a baby because she is the director of a company
Negative impacts on family:->result: pressure from family, relatives -> conflict->
divorce
Reason 2-> women want to spend more time on preparation before having a baby
Because: the living standard in modern society is high -> need a lot of financial
resources to raise a kid.
->negative impacts on the society-> lack the workforce -> cannot develop the
nation

7. Rainforests play an important role in the health of our environment. However,

with air pollution increasing as forests decline, the world is facing a potential crisis
with regard to air quality. Individual efforts to improve air quality will not give
any results, and it’s only the responsibility of our government to reduce air
pollution.
Write a essay to educated reader to discuss whether you agree or disagree.

Disagree => both people and the government should join hands to tackle the air
polution
1. the air quality has a direct effect on the public health.
This is mainly because human need air to survive.
Since we live in a polluted air, people may inflect respiratory diseases,
such as Asthma or lung cancer.
Therefore, every individual should find ways to protect the air.
If the public relies on government’s actions, It will take
time, so our health could be in much more in dangerous situation.

2. Although the government has provided many measures to solve the air
pollution, they are not effective because of the lack of corporation of the
people.
For example, some individuals still throw rubbish in the street despite
the environmental rules of the governments.
These behaviors have a serious impact on the environment.
As a result, the only effort of the government may not
enough to solve the problems of the air.

8. In many countries, young people are encouraged to take part in unpaid

community services in their free time to help the local community such as
working for charity, improving the neighbourhood or teaching sports to younger
children. It’s widely believed that this would benefit both individual teenagers
and society as well. agree or disagree.
1. One of the benefits of doing voluntary work from an early age is to build
children’s personalities.
Because they will become more sympathetic when they help economically
disadvantaged people.
For instance, in Asia, particularly in China and Korea, students who
actively do social unpaid work will get positive comments for their
learning performance.
As a result, youngsters become more active and establish more
skills such as problem-solving skills, survival skills.
2.It can help to reduce the number of young criminals.
This is due to the fact that many young people nowadays spend most of their
free time using computers.
It has a positive impact that students doing charity work or joining
social events can avoid bad habits like game addiction, gambling,
school bullying, and so forth.
If young people are not encouraged to do voluntary work, they
may easily go off the rails.
9. In the 21st century, more and more females are career women. They spend more
time at work than at home. Most of them can earn enough to have a housemaid and
to eat out. Some people believe that children especially girls, don’t need to
learn how to cook or do housework anymore. Do you agree or disagree with this
opinion
1. Females are usually thought to be skillful at doing house chores which leads to
gender inequality of sharing house duties.
This is due to the fact that many Asian men are popularly considered as
breadwinners who provide the chief financial source while women are
advised to become housewives.
It has a negative impact that the role of wives is underestimated.
If there is no collaboration of family members on doing
housework, it will easily drive their marriage to the verge of
despair.
2. Spending time on cooking and homemaking lessen self-caring time.
Most of women nowadays have busy jobs but still take care of their house.
For example, after eight hours working at the office, it takes a woman
at least three more hours to cook, clean her house, and take care of her
children. Then, she usually finishes everything and goes to bed very
late. Thus, she spends very little time perusing her bobbies or caring
for her health.
As a result, it will be a burden for women to balance both their
company assignment and housework.

10. With the introduction of the Internet, the lives of human beings have been
changed in many different ways. Nowadays, more and more Internet users have
found the meaning of their lives in a virtual world. Therefore, some people think
that the Internet is a great benefit due to its endless potential. discuss whether the
advantages of the Internet outweigh the disadvantages.
1. internet connect people together.
There are many social network sites for individuals to forms groups
and forums to share their common interests.
For example, technology lovers join online private or public
groups of hi-tech products.
Since then, they can update more useful information
As a result, people have interesting virtual places to
maintain their hobbies and make more friends.
2.People can learn many things from the online resources.
This is due to the fact that there are various pages that providing virtual
courses for free or with a really reasonable price.
This has a positive influence on individual’s live long learning.
For example, senior citizens can sign in online courses to learn
more about photography or painting in their free time.
If there is no internet connection, people may find it difficult to
learn something new
11. Home schooling advantages and disadvantages. Suitable for vietnam?
Home schooling brings various advantages.
Firstly, students can learn at their own pace.
Students, especially lower-leveled students, can spend more time on
studying difficult subjects, such as maths or physics
If they study these subjects at school, they have to study at the same
period of time with other students. Consequently, they might not fully understand
the lesson.
Secondly, when students study at home, they feel more comfortable.
This is due to the fact that students can learn the lessons at any time, in
any places. For example, they can stop learning to play sports for relaxing and
then continue to study later. This has a positive e impact on their learning. They do
not feel stress or under pressure like students going to school
2.there are also drawbacks.
Students do not have classmates
As a result, there is no one to help them with the homework or study
together.
Homeschooling may be not good to develop students’ communication skills.
If they study alone at home, they do not know how to work in pair or
work in groups.
This is detrimental to their future. They may feel it difficult to work
with other co-workers in the company.
12. An increasing number of professionals, such as doctors and teachers, are leaving
their own poorer countries to work in developed countries. What are the reasons
behind this trend? What solutions can you suggest to deal with this situation?

1. The first cause of brain drain is the low salary rate.

This is due to the fact that the salary in developing countries, including
Vietnam, is lower that of other developed countries.
Therefore, people, especially the youth, prefer to work oversea to earn
more money.
The solution is that the government should increase the monthly
income for excellent individuals to tackle the issue of brain drain. If a talented
person can have decent salary rate in his hometown, he would not find jobs abroad.
2.Another reason that makes people travel to other countries to work is the
personal development.
Indeed, there are a lot of opportunities for people to find a better position in
large corporations oversea.
For example, an information technology engineer in the USA can apply
for good vacancies in giant firms in technology field such as Google or Apple.
Since then, that person could easy develop his career.
The government should empower talented and experienced
individuals to join in many national projects. By doing that, these people can both
develop their career and contribute to the national economic development
13. Some people think that public transportation system should be improved in
order to increase the development and growth of the city in the future. Buses
should be chosen as the main transportation because they are the cheapest when
more and more residents become commuters and buses are modernized, bus travel
is faster and more convenient than using private cars. agree or disagree
14. Causes of traffic accidents and solutions
1. the traffic rules violation causes traffic accidents.
Many individuals usually violate the traffic rules and regulations.
In fact, there are people, especially young people, pass the red traffic
lights and break the speed limits, resulting in traffic accidents.
The solution is that there is a need to have strict punishments for
these violations. For example, people break the rules need to retake the driving
license test.
2.the utilizing of private vehicles causes traffic accidents.
This is due to the fact that there are a lot of personal means of transport, so
the streets are always busy.
In some nations, including Vietnam, the infrastructure is not fully
developed for busy traffic; therefore, it is easy to cause traffic accidents.
Governments should encourage citizens to use public transport system
to reduce the burden on the infrastructure, the main reason of accidents on
the street.

15. Currently, there is a wide choice of TV programs in many parts of the world.
However, instead of watching educational programs or news, more and more
young people prefer to watch game shows, movies or comedies to relax. As a
result, this has negatively affected knowledge acquisition among young
generations. Discuss the causes and effects of the above tendency

1. Game shows are easy to watch for everybody.

This is mainly because, the content of game show is fun and spectators do not
need a certain level of knowledge to understand game show.
If people watch too much gameshows they do not have many opportunities
to learn new things or update news. It has a negative effect on young people
development.
2.Young people prefer game shows because they have too much burden in life
For example, new graduates usually work for many hours a day to secure a
place in the competitive labour market.
As a result, the choose to watch game shows to relax.
Instead of spending time on sports or outdoor activities, young people watching too
much game show will have some health problem as they just sit on the sofa and
enjoy the show.
 They may cause obesity or other health problems due to the lack of
physical activities.

16. Express opinion on whether mobile phones should be banned at primary

schools or not.
Should be banned at schools
1.Too much screen time is not good for young students
This is due to the fact that children spend too much time in front of the screen
such as watching tv, or playing games in the tablets.
Therefore, children should not bring cellphones to schools to reduce the
screen time => good for their health

2.Using mobile phone can cause distractions.

If children have mobile phones, they may not concentrate on studying. Instead,
they may play games in class or chat with other people.
As a result, they do not spend enough time on studying, leading to a bad
result in studying
17. The number of children who are considered overweight is increasing. This is a
negative consequence of modern lifestyle and habits such as eating fast food and
playing video games.
Therefore, some people think increasing the time spent on physical education at
school is the best way to deal with the problem of overweight children.
agree or disagree with the above statement.
Causes and measures of childhood obesity
Nowadays, childhood obesity is one of the most important issues in modern society due to its great
impacts on the health of young generation. Some people state that children are getting more and more
overweight simply because of their negative habits and lifestyle. There are some reasons leading to the
current issue and several measures could be taken.

19. The computer age has arrived; it has changed our lives in many ways,
including how we learn. Computers allow huge amount of information to be stored
in a small space. Some people say this can help make learning easier, while others
argue computers have mostly negative effects on education. Compare the two
opinions and give your own opinion.

Computers help people study easier.

1. Computer is a great source of learning.
People can store and read millions of electronic books in the computer.
It is easier and cheaper for people to read ebooks in the computer and
buying printed-books
People can learn many things from the computer with internet connection.
This is due to the fact that there are various pages that providing virtual
courses for free or with a really reasonable price.
This has a positive influence on individual’s live long learning.
For example, senior citizens can sign in online courses to learn
more about photography or painting in their free time.
If there is no internet connection, people may find it difficult to
learn something new
2.Using computers may have some drawbacks.
People cannot study when they face some technical problems with their
computer. Therefore, it takes time and money to solve these problems.
Some people use computer to play game instead of studying
 Despite some drawbacks, the advantages of computer outweigh
negative sides

20.Benefits and drawbacks of studying abroad.

1.benefits
- good at foreign languages => more opportunities to find good jobs in
multinational companies
-develop independence => stay far away from family => learn how to deal with
difficulties when living alone oversea: find room for rent, balance the monthly
budget, find apart-time jobs
2. drawbacks
- cultural differences => face difficulties in communication =>take a lot of time to
mingle in the new culture.
-Financial burden => high school fee, expensive expenditure in developed nations

21.Effects of tourism on local communities.

1. create employment opportunities for local people
this is due to the fact that the development of tourism need a large labor
force for servicing
=> tourism firms bring more jobs for the local => these people can earn
more money => improve their living standard
2. tourism help promote the culture of the local communities to other people.
For example : the development of tourist in Hoi An ancient town brings more
information about the cultural aspects to tourism.
=> help people raise the awareness of protect the culture
22. People have their own preferences about how to travel. Some prefer traveling
alone to have more freedom to do what they like. Others, however, choose to travel
in group with a tour guide to have more fun and to reduce travel expenses since
everyone will be sharing the costs of accommodation, transportation and food.
discuss which option you prefer when travelling.

1. Travel with a tour guide helps save time.

=> tourists have a very clear itinerary so they can travel a lot of places in one
place.
If the travel alone, they may spend much time to find the way to
tourist destinations
2. Travel in group with tour guide is safer
The tour guide will which things are suitable for tourism and which
ones are not
For example, tour guide will choose the appropriate restaurant
for the tourists to experience local food.
If we do not have the help from tour guide, the tourists may
face lots of trouble with the local food, which could possibly lead to some
unwanted situations, such as food poison

23. As living standards in many parts of the world are getting higher, so people are
busier. This means that there are more eating options but also people may have less
time to eat with their families. Some people think it’s better to eat in restaurants
while others prefer to eat at home. give your opinion?

Eat at home
1. Well-prepared meals at home benefits family members.
This is due to the fact that when we prepare meals at home, we can make
sure the issue of ingredient freshness
For instance, individuals can directly choose and buy fresh meat from
hygiene food supplier; later one, the would have safe and nutritious meals
for the family.
As a result, the whole family would become healthier and more
important, we can avoid the issue of food poison causing by eating out at
restaurants.
2.The process of preparing meals creates opportunities to boost family bond
This is mainly because family members can join hands in helping prepare
the meals together.
This has a positive impact on the family relationship
Indeed, when parents teach children such things like how to clean
the vegetables or ways to make the table for dinner, both parents and children can
understand each other more.
If we solely have a meal at the restaurant, these meaningful
activities will be neglected, resulting in a deterioration in family bond

You are the landlord in London and you receive a letter from a foreigner.

We are going to visit London next month so we are really lucky when we find that
you have some rooms available for tourists like us. We would like to know more
about your accommodation. There are 10 members in my group so how many

Some people may argue that many Vietnamese students have studied English for
years, but not many of them can use English to communicate well. In order to
improve the quality of English learning and teaching in Vietnam, it is strongly
recommended that English should be taught by native English teachers only. Do
you agree or disagree with this opinion?
In recent year, learning English has attracted a lot of attention of the public. There
are individuals saying that native English teachers are better than non-native
English teachers when they teach English. In other words, our students would be
better at utilizing English when studying with native English teachers. Personally, I
totally agree with this opinion for several following reasons.
First of all, by learning English with teachers from English speaking, Vietnamese
students can develop their English communication skills. This is due to the fact
that VN students will have more time to practice English. In fact, in the classroom
with native English teachers, if students want to understand the lectures, they have
to listen a lot and carefully, so they can improve listening skill. Furthermore, , in
order to tackle their problems with the homework, students also need to ask the
teacher in English. However, if students learn English with Vietnamese teacher,
they have less opportunities to use English in class because they know Vnese
teachers are able to understand what they talk in vietnamese, so they don’t need to
make an effort to use English.
Another reason is that native English teachers can teach students good
pronunciation. there are many students want to learn English with American
accent. No method is perfect than to study with American teachers. Therefore,
Students will have more chances to imitate the accent and are more beneficial to
practice their pronunciation. they would gradually become better English users.
In conclusion, there are two reasons why I support the opinion that students should
learn English with native English teachers in order to develop both speaking and
listening skills. I think that schools should take steps to invite teachers from
English speaking countries to improve English communication skills for Vnese
students.

places that I can visit? And where should I stay during the journey? Besides, are

Dear Sarah,
How have you been? It has been a long time since the last time we met. I am still
doing fine.
I have just received your email about your summer holiday in Vietnam so I am
writing to tell you more about my country.
Well, I am really happy when I know you are going to travel to VietNam. Could
you tell me about your plan in Vietnam? And you know, I could give you some
good suggestion for your trip. The summer in Vietnam is really beautiful so you
can go visit the beach. You might be prefer Nha Trang where it has wonderful
beaches. That is a travel city, so there are a lot of hotels, with affordable cost for
students like you. And if You have a more time in Nha Trang, you may have a
part-time job at coffee shops or convenient stores if you want.
Now I have to stop here. I am looking forward to hearing from you at your earliest
See you later
Your friend

Deforestation is happening in many parts of the world, with serious results. What
are the causes and what effects are happening?
Nowadays, deforestation has attracted a lot of attention from the public and the
government. In many countries, this is a really serious issue. There are several
reasons leading to the current issue and it also has many negative influences on
human and animals.

The first cause of deforestation is that people need more land for agriculture. This
is due to the fact that overpopulation requires more food for people to survive.
Therefore, people need more land to grow plants for food. This has negative
impacts on the natural habitat of wild animals. If people continue to cut down
trees, a lot of animals will lose their shelters and become extinct.

Another cause is mainly because of the high value of many types of wood in the
forest. In fact, Vietnamese people prefer furniture made of wood. Therefore, there
are more and more people cut down trees in the forest to sell for money. This
seriously affects the environment. It is clear that because of the deforestation,
currently there are more floods than in the past. As a result, massive cutting down
trees greatly influences both human’s life and the development of a nation.

In conclusion, there are two major causes leading to the current issue of
deforestation: the need of agriculture land and the economy value of natural wood
in the forest. This phenomenon has seriously affected both animal and human life.
Therefore, governments should take steps to initially find effective ways to initially
protect the forest then raise the public awareness of the importance of forest.
