The aim of this study is to determine the effects of sleep deprivation on academic performance among

grade 11 senior high school students of Anomar National High School School year 2023-2024. The result
of this study would be used as a basis for the students to know more about the effects of sleep
deprivation on their academic performance. The researchers provided citations of professional to prove
that the study is credible and relevant.

A qualitative non experimental descriptive correlational research was employed to study the
relationship of the two variables which is the effects of sleep deprivation and academic performance
among grade 11 Senior High School Students of Anomar National High School. The researchers intend to
collect the systematic random sampling of 71 respondents in a population of 87. With the help of slovins
Formula used to calculate the sample size (71) given the population size (87) and a margin of error
(0.05). The researchers used a three phased Survey questionnaire specifically Likert’s Scale and
Frequency questionnaire.

The researchers concluded that the students sometimes experienced that being sleep deprived affects
their oral recitation and quizzes with both gained a total mean of (2.73), and SD (0.62) oral recitation
(0.83) quizzes. While students rarely experienced that being sleep deprived affects their class activities
with a total mean of (2.59) and SD (0.85).

The researchers also concluded that the oral recitation and quizzes factors does not have any significant
relationship to the respondent's academic performance. As for class activities it has been proven to have
a significant relationship. The oral recitation and Quizzes factor both have the highest mean
(M=2.73),and the class activities factor have the lowest mean (M=2.68). Based from the results,there are
no significant relationship between sleep deprivation and academic performance interms of oral
recitation (P=0.13) and Quizzes(P=0.07) but there is in Class Activities (P=0.02).
