ABSTRACT

Child Safety Wearable Device

This paper introduces a pioneering smart wearable device tailored for the
safety of young children, offering a unique advantage by seamlessly interfacing
with standard cell phones, obviating the need for high-end smartphones and
technical proficiency. The primary focus is to afford parents a reliable and user-
friendly solution for tracking and communicating with their children.

In contrast to prevalent wearables relying on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, this device

capitalizes on the widespread GSM mobile communication network,
establishing an SMS text-based communication channel. Parents can employ
specific keywords, such as "LOCATION," "TEMPERATURE," "UV," "SOS," and
"BUZZ," initiating real-time communication with the child's wearable. The
device responds promptly, providing precise location data and environmental
information via the Google Maps app.

Motivated by the recognition that technological solutions may encounter

limitations, this paper advocates for a complementary safety measure. It
involves leveraging individuals in the child's immediate surroundings who can
respond swiftly in emergencies, offering assistance until parents arrive or
aiding in locating them. The wearable incorporates a bright SOS light and a
distress alarm buzzer, both activated by parents through SMS text, serving as
conspicuous distress signals for bystanders.

This proposed device seeks to bolster parents' confidence in ensuring their

children's safety by delivering a versatile communication tool coupled with
innovative secondary safety features. The integration of accessible and reliable
technologies aims to provide a comprehensive solution for contemporary
parenting challenges.
