President Joseph R. Biden

The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, DC 20500

Dear President Biden,

Recent revelations about meetings between Fulton County prosecutor Fani Willis's romantic
partner, special prosecutor Nathan Wade, and your White House are deeply troubling. These
meetings, which occurred twice in 2022 before former President Trump was charged, raise
significant questions about the impartiality and integrity of the legal process.

This is not the only time allegations of White House collusion with “independent prosecutors”
have risen. White House logs have revealed that your senior staff were meeting with special
counsel Jack Smith’s top aide just days before charges were filed against former President
Trump. Such a meeting between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the White House
Counsel’s office amid an investigation into a former President and a major political opponent
raises serious concerns over the intent of the meeting and the motive behind these charges.

It has come to light that Mr. Wade, while working on the investigation into President Trump's
alleged election interference, billed Fulton County for two separate meetings with White House
Counsel in May and November of 2022. This information, revealed in a recent court filing,
suggests a concerning level of coordination between the White House and those leading
politically sensitive investigations.

The implications of these meetings are profound. They suggest the Biden White House may have
been inappropriately involved in or informed about the political prosecution of a former
President and major political opponent. This is especially concerning given the alleged personal
relationship between Ms. Willis and Mr. Wade and the financial benefits they reportedly
received during the course of the investigation.

This situation is not just a matter of legal ethics; it strikes at the heart of our democratic
principles. The American people deserve to have confidence in the impartiality of our legal
system and the independence of our judicial processes. The involvement of the White House in a
case of this magnitude undermines that confidence and suggests a misuse of power for political
ends.
We must maintain a clear separation between political processes and legal proceedings As
suggested by these meetings, the involvement of your administration in this case erodes the trust
of the American public in both the legal system and the office of the President. The transparency
and accountability promised by your administration must extend to all branches of government,
especially in cases with significant political implications.

It is essential you and your administration take every step to secure classified information that
could risk the safety of the American people. Accordingly, we ask that you advise us of the
following:

1. Have you, White House Staff, attorneys representing members of your family, or
advisors met with any of the following individuals, virtually or in person, involved in
investigating former President Trump?

a. Nathan Wade
b. Fani Willis
c. Jack Smith
d. Jay Bratt
e. Any member or associate of the Fulton County Prosecutor team
f. Any member or associate of Special Counsel Smith’s Prosecutor team

2. In addition to information related to your administration seeking to commence and

influence investigations of President Trump, I am once again requesting any visitor logs
at your Delaware property and all communications or documents between the [U.S.
Secret Service] and your administration regarding a decision to maintain visitor logs at
your Delaware property. Please include, at minimum, the following information from
January 20, 2021, to present:

a. All documents and communications referring or relating to the [Secret Service’s]

decision and process to maintain visitor logs at your Delaware property.
b. All documents and communications referring or relating to the Secret Service’s
process to vet and verify all visitors at your Delaware property.

I urge you to uphold your commitment to a transparent visitor log policy to address your decision
to regularly provide exclusive access to certain members of the public outside of the White
House, where you keep classified documents. I respectfully request an answer to these questions
no later than February 14, 2024.

Sincerely,

Lance Gooden
Member of Congress
