Definition of Solution
• Physical product like a medical
device.
• Non-physical product like a mobile
application.
• Service like tele-medicine.
• Process like improving the
way elderly connect with doctors.
• Training like teaching people to
be carpenters.
Process from Start to Finish
• Step One: Team Formation-24 teams of 10 students each filling out a survey displaying their skill sets
and solving one of eight major problems holding Vietnam back from reaching its full potential.
• Step Two: Problem Unpacking-Understand and take apart the problem.
• Step Three: Initial Solutions-Each team develops at least one solution before the hackathon.
• Step Four: Group Solutions- All of the teams get together for one full-day to hear each other's ideas
and finalize a recommendation that could include all, some or none of the solutions and replace it
with new solution recommended based on new information and direction the team decided on.
• Step Five: Draft Presentation- Each team makes a presentation sharing their solution and how it will be
implemented. Mentors will be providing feedback.
• Step Six: Final Presentation- After making adjustments a final presentation is created and presented to
a panel of three to five judges.
Have each member of the team introduce themselves.

6-Step Have one person present their teams ideas.

Smart Pass the solutions around to each team and develop a strengths and
weakness analysis of the Problem that isn't yours.

Work Determine which solutions you want to recommend after analysis and
discussion. You should develop a criteria for selecting a solution.

Process
You can recommend as many solutions as you like as long as you make a
good case for your solution.

Divide the team into smaller groups each working on an aspect of the
presentation.
• Problem-Define the problem making sure you have at least one third-
party statistic to back up the problem you are solving.
• Solution- Describe the solution short and concisely so anyone can
describe it. This would include how it will work.
• Market-How big is the problem, what are the trends and who
is affected.
• Marketing Strategy and Tactics-You need to win over
checkwriters, users and influencers.
Presentation • Revenue/Self-Supporting- Where will the money come from to
Content support your solution. This could revenue stream from users,
foundation grants, government support, advertising, etc.
• Competiton- Anyone providing a similar product/service/process, etc.
• Implementation-How your idea or ideas will be implemented.
• Costs-A spread sheet showing cost to develop and operate along with
revenue streams to support the concept/idea.
Judging
There will be three to five judges (industry/investors)
and three non-cash certificate awards.
• Best Presentation-Easily understood content, good
flow, easy to read graphics and answers all of the
questions about the idea or ideas.
• Most Innovative Idea- A solution no one has thought
about before. For example, a student when faced
with a gas-powered lawnmower and was told what
would they do to lower pollution. He and his team
didn't change the mower, they came up with a way
to stop grass growing beyond a certain size.
• Most Executable Idea- The idea that can be offered
and used within 30 days of development.
Fun

• Battle of teams in Karaoke.

• 90 minutes of mayhem!
• Each team will get two songs to
sing.
• Losers get to watch the
winners eat amazing snacks (just
kidding!!!!)
