on the idea that
the user should not smoke marijuana the same way they would a cigarette because if they do, the drug will not work because they are using it improperly. Rather, breathing heavily and holding it in for as long as the user feels comfortable with is the correct method for getting "high." Similarly, watching others use the drug and their own approach, body language, and behaviors to pick up on the technique could also be a behavior engaged in learning it.
