Hot-rolled long products technical requirements for

carbon structure steel and low-alloy structure steel

1. Subject content and scope of application

This standard specifies hot-rolled long products technical requirements, test

method and regulations of inspection for carbon structure steel and low-alloy
structure steel.

This standard is applicable to hot-rolled steel bar, section steel and special-shape
steel of carbon structure steel and low-alloy structure steel.

z GB 2101 General requirements of acceptance, packaging, marking, and

certification for section steel

3. Dimension, appearance, weight and permissible variation

Dimension, appearance, weight and permissible variation of steel bar shall be in

accordance with those specified in relevant standards.

4. Technical requirements

4.1 Designation and chemical composition

Designation and chemical composition of steel bar shall meet those specified in
relevant standards such as GB 700 (hereinto, Q195 and Q215 are generally
applicable to cold forging steel for general purpose) and GB 1591.

4.2 Mechanical property and processing property

Mechanical property and processing property shall meet those specified in GB

700, GB 1591 and relevant standards.

4.3 Condition of delivery

Steel bar are generally delivered in hot-rolled state. It is allowable to deliver in
heat treated state according to requirement of demand side and also based on
mutual agreement.

4.4 Surface quality

4.4.1 Crack, fold, scar and inclusion are forbidden on the surface of steel bar.

4.4.2 Partial spilly place, pull crack, steel pit, pock and scratch can exist on the
surface of steel bar, but they can't make steel bar go beyond permissible
variation.

4.4.3 It is allowable to clear away surface defects of steel bar but transverse
cleanup is forbidden. The cleared location shall be smooth without arris. Width of
cleanup is request not to be less than five time of deepness of cleanup. Deepness
of cleanup shall be counted from real size and is request not to exceed
permissible minus deviation of steel bar of the relevant dimension.

4.4.4 Steel bar is request not to have lamination, shrinkage cavity residues, or
spilliness whose height is larger than 5 mm. For steel bar cut with contractor, its
tip is allowable to have local deformation.

4.4.5 It is forbidden to carry out welding repair and filling up for any defect on steel
bar.

5. Test method

5.1 surface quality of steel bar can be inspected with the naked eye.

5.2 Chemical composition, mechanical property, processing property and test

method of steel bar shall meet those specified in GB 700, GB 1591 and relevant
standards.

6. Test rules

6.1 Inspection and acceptance of steel bar shall be carried out by technical
supervision department of supply side.

6.2 Batch of steel bar shall meet those specified in GB 700, GB 1591 and relevant
standards.

6.3 Reinspection and inspection regulations for steel bar shall be in accordance
with those specified in GB 2101.

7. Packaging, marking and certification

Packaging, marking and certification of steel bar shall be in accordance with those
specified in GB 2101.
