Stepwise Instructions
Computer Centre at IITB provides students with various Centralized Computer Facilities,
including Email, Web Browsing, File Storage, Computational Software, and High-
Performance Computing (HPC). These services can be accessed using your LDAP-ID and
Password.

Change of Initial Password and Acceptance of IT Policy

All users at IIT Bombay must accept the Institute's IT policy before using the IITB network.
To be able to accept the IT access policy, please be ready with your user ID (this is the same
as your roll number) and password. We call this credential as LDAP credential.
1. For changing passwords, please visit the following Central Account Management Portal
(CAMP) URL, https://www.cc.iitb.ac.in/camp. Log into the CAMP system using your
LDAP ID and initial one-time password (refer to the email on how to obtain your LDAP
ID and the initial one-time password).
2. After you login successfully, please reset your password to something of your choice
by clicking on ‘Change Password’.
3. If you are not able to log in, please read the instructions in “What is my user ID and
Password” section carefully and try again. If you are reasonably sure that the user ID
and Password combination is not working, you can connect to the helpdesk email ID or
phone number provided by your department. You will get details of the department
contact after 3 failed login attempts on the same CAMP interface
(https://www.cc.iitb.ac.in/camp).

IRSCP 2023
4. To sign the on-line IITB IT Access Policy (General), please visit the URL
https://www.cc.iitb.ac.in/camp again and click on the IT Access Policy.
5. Please go through the document carefully and choose the appropriate option that
appears at the bottom of the page. Please remember that rejection of the IT Access
Policy will render the services mentioned above permanently unavailable. To sign up
for the Policy, you will need to provide your LDAP-ID and the New Password you have
obtained in the previous step. At this stage, you have successfully signed the IT Access
Policy of IITB.
6. Once you have successfully accepted the policy, you will see a confirmation email flash
on the page, which means that you have successfully finished Step

Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for SSO

1. SSO has become mandatory for all the network users at IITB.
2. Before starting to use new SSO based services, everyone needs to register their
smartphones for two-factor authentication. Please note this is a onetime activity.
3. You will not be able to access any web applications using your LDAP Login ID until
you've enrolled. Department Coordinators will help you with 2FA for SSO

ASC and Course Registration, a Step-by-Step Guide

After this, course Registration is what is important which is required to be
done before every semester.
Note: ASC registration is a one-time process at the beginning of your journey
at IITB. After this, course registration is what is important which is required
to be done before every semester.

1. Go to asc.iitb.ac.in.
2. Click on Registration/Adjustment tab
3. You will be directed to a page that asks you to update your personal information before you
can register for courses. Update your personal information to the best of your knowledge,
and then submit it. Remember, you can only update this information once, so please be
careful while updating it.

IRSCP 2023
4. Once you have submitted the personal information, you should receive an email from
noreply@iitb.ac.in with the subject: Personal Information Update. The mail will also
contain a pdf of your details as you have updated. Please download this information and
keep for your own reference. In case you see a message saying that the mess advance is not
found paid, please contact your mess manager.
5. Now it is ready for course registration (done before every semester). But before that it is
suggested to go through the running courses and description of the course which you are
willing to choose. For the same follow the path on ASC page as: Academic > All about
Courses > Running Courses. Then select the year & semester, click Go.
6. It is also advised to the students to check the previous year’s course wise grading statistics
prior to the course registration. For the same follow Academic > All about Courses >
Grading Statistics.
7. After deciding the courses to choose, the actual course registration process starts. For
registration follow the path: Academic > Registration > Registration/Adjustment.
8. Please note that there are 4 segments to this page: Core Courses, Departmental Electives,
Non-credit Courses, and Additional Courses.
9. Core courses have been approved by the department and are compulsory for all students to
take. These need to be selected by clicking on Register in the menu. Courses in this section
will be associated with the tag Core (C) [These courses cannot be retagged.]
10. The list of approved departmental electives will be available on the website of each
academic unit, and can be accessed. Please check the number of departmental electives that
you need to do and plan your coursework accordingly. Courses in this section will be
associated with the tag Departmental Elective (D).
11. As per the curriculum, you will be supposed to choose a course from outside department,
which is named as Institute Elective (I). Generally, you will have to choose one from a list
provided but you are free to choose any course out of your department as institute elective
provided it is approved by the faculty advisor.
12. The last segment is the one where you must be most careful, since these courses do not
come with a pre-approved tag (C or D). These courses will have a tag based on what you
select from the drop-down menu shown. Please be careful here, since Core courses cannot
be retagged.
13. In case you are unsure about the courses to take, talk to your Faculty Advisor, Department
Coordinator, Student Companion or AURAA for clarification. Make sure you finish the
required coursework as per what has been prescribed in your department.
IRSCP 2023
14. In case you have registered for half semester courses, please note that you must necessarily
register for both half semester courses at once.
15. In each of the cases, you need to type the course code, which you have decided after vising
the running courses and grading statistics. Finally, click on the verify button and confirm
the same in the next page. Then you will get an email with a list of courses that you have
registered for on your webmail, along with the number of credits, whether or not it is a
Core/Departmental/Institute Elective/Additional Learning Course.
16. With this the course registration is completed. And you can change the courses that you
have taken during the period of Course Adjustment.
17. Still, you can withdraw any course post mid-sem exam before the due date with concern
from the faculty advisor, but it leads to a letter grade ‘W’ in your grade-sheet, stands for
course withdrawn.
18. Based on the courses that you have taken; a timetable will be generated for you. You can
access the same with the path: Academic > Time Table > My Timetable.
19. Please make sure that you do not have courses clashing in the process (the system should
not allow you to register for courses if the slots for the courses are clashing, but a second
check never goes amiss!)
AUDIT COURSE:
It is also possible to choose the courses in an Audit mode. This tag is meant for an additional
course which you are doing with your own interest and cannot be counted for grade evaluation
and minimum credits requirement but can be added to your transcripts.
The student registered for a course as audit shall be awarded the grade AU if they fulfill the
requirement of minimum of 80% attendance and duly satisfactory in-semester performance as
prescribed by the instructor. The instructor shall include such AU grades in the final grade
report for that course. If the student does not qualify for the grade AU, it will be assumed that
the course has been dropped by that student and will not be seen in the transcript.
Also, there is a restriction that two Audit courses per semester are allowed. The option of
permitting student to register a course as “Audit” is left to the course instructor.
SIT THROUGH COURSE:
You don’t need to formally register (whether for credit or for audit) for such courses. By just
talking to the course instructor, you can attend his classes, but you will have no exams and the
course won’t be appearing in the transcript.
ADDITIONAL LEARNING COURSE:

IRSCP 2023
The students have an option of taking the course as “additional learning”. These courses can
be registered at the time of semester registration of courses. Registration for additional courses
will require approval of the faculty advisor. “Additional Learning” tagged courses will be in
addition to the minimum course credit requirement and will not affect the SPI/CPI, but the
actual grades obtained will be shown in the transcript.
There will be one-time option of changing the tag of a course. The “Additional Learning”
tagged courses can be retagged as “Department/Institute Elective” and visa-versa. “Core
courses” cannot be retagged as “Additional Learning” or “Department/Institute Elective”
