COVID-19 Pandemic

COVID-19 Pandemic. It is the outbreak of an infectious disease caused by the

SARS-CoV-2 Virus. Anyone can get sick with the virus, they will or might experience
moderate respiratory illness or recover without undergoing special treatment. On the other
side, some will become seriously ill or most unfortunately die.

Synopsis
The COVID-19 Pandemic has presented bizarre challenges to human life worldwide.
People are watching the news to be updated, it may also serve as their central source of
information and therefore have a negative effect on their mental health caused by the public
traumas and panic attacks. No matter what age it is, everyone is vulnerable and affected. In
crisis distribution, the mental health care of people carries great importance in different
levels, such as prevention, promotion and clinical care.

Evidence
It has become clear that the pandemic has affected all groups in the society at any
levels. Sudden changes have led to many challenges like stay-at-home restriction,
workplace closure, banning of public gathering, contact tracing and shutting institutions
down, mainly schools and universities. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has
become an extremely pronounced stressors particularly to the students (Juchnowicz et. al,
2021). United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) reported
that close to 1.2 billion students and youth were impacted by the pandemic especially in the
educational institution of every countries. To ensure public health and safety for the
students as well as professors, some nations have switched to online education.

Studies observed that the student’s mental health was already a global concern even
before the outbreak; particularly their mental health was more influenced by the pandemic
crisis compared to the other groups but announced with similar anxiety levels and distress.
It was stated that the transition to online classes and their concern for their academic
grades were major stressors (Son et. al, 2020). It is of great importance to find risk and
protective factors associated with the distress caused by the pandemic throughout.

Argument
Nevertheless, the pandemic identifies the during and after benefits, such as
promoting remote learning, students get to discover and explore different information with
the use of technologies by themselves, they can build self-reliance, and mostly spending
time do things or hobbies they previously couldn’t do because they were often outside.
Those might help the students cope up.

Instructor Facilitation

Instructor Facilitation. The faculty deliver, facilitate online courses, utilizing learning
theories in course design and delivery that may mirror aspects of traditional way of
learning.

Synopsis
Instructors use various facilitation strategies in an online course to engage students.
This concept that many be recent but has been needed for a long time. Accurate knowledge
and guidance are important to the technological era that we all live in. The importance of
instructor facilitation is every learner can be on board with the needed adjustments and
changes.

Evidence
In addition to the challenges that students are facing, the online learning
environment brings it a unique set of issues facing the instructors including not being able to
regularly speak with learners and separation from colleagues and peers. According to
Bialowas & Steimel (2019), to appropriately deal with these barriers, it requires
understanding and appreciation of both the possibilities and limitations brought by the new
modes of technology. The instructor should be the “guide on the side” whose role is to work
alongside their students to promote convenient way in using and success. The role of the
instructor also means to boost interaction, active dialogue and group learning by providing
relevant activities that use online courses and remaining responsive to student’s needs.
“Instructor facilitated and student owned” are the two components in engaging in online
learning.
To lessen the effects of transitional distance learning, it is necessary upon instructors
to intentionally incorporate strategies that will keep the learners motivated and engaged.
The students will be able to experience better teaching once the instructor develops a vision
that clarifies our goals and purpose throughout our course. It is given that the outcomes
must essentially be learner-centered.

Argument
Students believes that the experiences of instructor facilitation and delivery method
varies as well as the effect on whether they can cope up but others think that it might be
effective through themselves, how they focus, how they use their own abilities and the way
how they manage their time in a setting.
