6 Many accidents involving abrasive wheel machines
occur every year on site. These accidents are usually due 7 to the incorrect mounting and use of abrasive wheels during 8 grinding and cutting work. The following rules must be followed, in order to ensure your safety and to protect others 9 whenever abrasive wheels are used:- 10 Ø You are only allowed to fit abrasive wheels if you 11 have received approved training and have been formally appointed by your employer to carry out 12 work of this kind. 13 Ø When fitting a new wheel, make certain that the 14 spindle speed does not exceed the permitted speed 15 of the wheel.
16 Ø To protect yourself and others nearby, the guards
must always be properly in position while the grinder 17 is in use. 18 Ø Eye protection must be worn when operating any 19 type of abrasive wheel machine. 20 Ø Keep working areas clean and tidy, and free from 21 obstruction. Ensure cordon off the area to avoid 22 unnecessary entry.
