During our last class, my class and I were listening to a radio discussion about the

advantages of receiving different types of presents. In life, we can receive various types of
gifts, and it's given that some won’t appeal to us in the same way that others do. We can be
given some expensive and luxurious items or just simple homemade ones. I choose two
types of presents that were mentioned during that audition to present them here.

The first one is a homemade gift. Probably some of us have friends with a difficult financial
situation or just creative ones. Those people would give us something that they made by
themselves, like friendship bracelets, jars with sweets, etc. Maybe not every one of those
things will please us but we have to be mindful that they put all their heart to prepare
something like that. Our friends didn't come empty-handed and we should respect this fact
by showing our appreciation and thanks them because even if the present we got isn’t the
one we were dreaming about it is still sincere. Homemade stuff can be useful in numerous
ways, so it’s a bit time-consuming but results can be great.

The second type is an experience-based item for example ticket for a concert or voucher for
a parachute jump. When we are giving someone such a gift we should prepare in advance,
although it might be an exotic idea that we consider a funny and brilliant person who
receives it can have a different opinion. It is hard to accept presents like those especially
when the concert isn't to our taste or we have some chronic diseases that can prevent us
from doing certain types of physical activities. Moreover, if we receive such a coupon or
voucher which unfortunately can’t be used by us it could be difficult to return it for
complaints.

To sum up, it is difficult to choose an excellent present for someone but we can always give
it a try. Between the two types of gits mentioned above, homemade ones have greater
potential than experience-based ones because if someone doesn’t like them they can
always use them for something else or pass them on to another person. While we don't have
a guarantee that the voucher will go to waste because we can’t use it or give it to someone
else.
