1. 5000 people were watching a soccer match. 2748 of them were children and the rest
were adults.
(a) How many adults were there?
(b) How many more children than adults were there?

2. Madam Chew needed some buttons to sew on some shirts. The buttons were sold in
packets of 8 buttons and each packet cost $2. If Madam Chew needed 434 buttons,
what will be the least amount of money she would need to buy enough buttons?

3. Donovan and Paul had an equal number of trading cards at first. Donovan then gave
away 24 trading cards away and Paul bought another 10 stickers. In the end, Paul had
twice as many trading cards as Donovan. Find the number of trading cards Donovan
had at first.

4. Nate and Vincent saved $75 altogether. Nate and Charles saved $145 altogether. If
Charles saved thrice as much as Vincent, how much did Nate save?

5. 384 people attended a party at the beach. There were 248 fewer children than adults.
There were 12 fewer women than men.
(a) How many adults were there at the party?
(b) How many women were there at the party?

6. Natalie and Dylan spent $145 each in January. In February, Dylan spent $10 more
than Natalie. If Natalie spent the same amount of money in both months, how much
did they spend altogether in both months?

7. 3 similar dresses cost as much as 5 similar skirts. If each dress cost $85, find the total
cost 1 dress and 1 skirt.

8. 6 chairs cost as much as 2 tables. The total cost of 6 chairs and 2 tables is $1272. How
much more does a table cost than a chair?

9. There were a total of 60 men and women at a school concert. There were 4 times as
many women as men. After 18 women and some men walked out of the concert, the
number of women who remained at the concert was 3 times as many as the men who
remained at the concert. How many men walked out of the concert?

10. Paul had 180 more marbles than Javier at first. After Paul had lost 220 of his marbles,
Javier had thrice as many marbles as Paul. Find the number of marbles Paul had at
first.

11. Clara and Heather had 1213 ribbons at first. After Clara gave 83 of her ribbons to her
sister and Heather gave half of her ribbons to her cousin, Clara had thrice as may
ribbons as Heather. How many ribbons had Heather at first?

12. If Vanessa gives Benjamin 2 stickers, he will have the same number of stickers as
Vanessa. If Benjamin gives Vanessa 2 stickers, Vanessa will have 5 times as many
stickers as Benjamin. How many stickers does each of them have?

13. A basket contained 244 red, blue and green bean bags. There were 3 times as many
blue bean bags as red bean bags. There were 16 fewer green bean bags than red bean
bags. How many red bean bags were there in the basket?

14. Anastasia had $20 more than Becca at first. After Anastasia had spent $4, she had
thrice as much money as Becca. How much money did Anastasia have at first?

15. Raja bought $945 worth of badminton rackets at $7 each. He had to throw some away
as they were damaged. He sold the rest at $9 and collected $1116. How many rackets
did he throw away?
