Desiderata

At the beginning of the poem, the author encourages people to live

in peace, find tranquility in silence, that is beneficial for the state of
mind. Moreover, it is suggested to strive for positive relationships
with others by accepting different types of personalities.

Next stanza reminds us of the significance of speaking honestly and

properly. Further it recommends listening to people, despite the fact
that they can be boring and behave inappropriately. Everyone
deserves to tell his tale.

Further the speaker teaches us to escape from noisy and

aggressive people, because they have a bad influence on our
spiritual state.

Poem continues with a warning about the consequences of

comparing yourself to others, because it is not futile, as there will
always be worse and better ones. So, it may lead only to arrogance.

Next thing which is emphasized is satisfaction with the process and

final success itself. Poem suggests never lose absorption in
occupation. No matter how modest it is, it is a meaningful gain in
the fast-changing world.
