(UL} Enclosures for Electrical Equipment, Non-Environmental Considerations. and DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS When installed, metal stair assemblies shall comply with the following minimum requirements for structural performance, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings: 587 05510 ‘Treads and Platforms of Steel Stairs Capable of withstanding a uniform load of 100 Ibs. per sq. ft. and a concentrated load of 300 Ibs. per 4 sq. in., so located as to produce maximum stress conditions. Uniform and concentrated loads need not be assumed to act concurrently. Stair framing shall be capable of withstanding stresses resulting from railing loads in addition to loads specified above. Limit deflection of treads, platforms, and framing ‘members to L/360 or 1/4 inch, whichever is less. Handrails and Toprails of Guards Capable of withstanding the following loads applied as indicated when tested per ASTM E 935 and of transferring these loads through the supports to the structure: 8. Uniform load of 50 Ibs. per linear ft. applied simultaneously in both vertical and horizontal directions. b. Concentrated load of 200 Ibs. applied at any point in any direction. Have attachment devices and supports to transfer these loads to the structure. Uniform and concentrated loads described above need not be assumed to act concurrently, ‘Thermal Movements: Allow for thermal movements resulting from the following maximum change (range) in ambient and surface temperatures by preventing buckling, opening of joints, overstressing of components, failure of connections and other detrimental effects. Base engineering calculation on surface temperatures of materials due to both solar heat gain and nighttime-sky heat loss. Temperature Change (Range): 190 degrees F, ambient: 180 degrees F, material surfaces. Guards with Wire Rope Assemblies Intermediate rails and wire rope assemblies capable of withstanding a horizontal uniform load of 50 Ibs. per sq. ft. of gross area of guard, including open areas of which they are a part. Load need not be assumed to be acting concurrently with uniform horizontal loads on toprails of railing assembly in determining stress on guard supporting members. Design supports and hardware to withstand loads encountered without excessive deflection or distortion when cables are tensioned to required amounts required to conform to applicable building codes. Mesh aperture of wire rope assemblies shall restrict the passage of 4 inch sphere as required to conform to applicable building codes. Wire rope assemblies shall be designed, fabricated, and installed to accommodate expansion and contraction of metal components without causing undue stress, buckling, opening of joints, and distortion. ‘Components shall be free from defects impairing strength, durability and appearance. Exposed surfaces throughout system shall have same inherent texture and color for similar locations. Component Importance Factor: 1.5. 588 05510 Control: Prevent galvanic action and other forms of corrosion by isolating metals and other materials from direct contact with incompatible materials. 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE, A When required by Appendix "A", submit structural calculations for metal stairs, signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer licensed in the state in which Work is to be performed, indicating compliance with these Design and Performance Requirements. Determine allowable design working stresses of handrail and railing materials based on ASCE 8. Fabricator Qualifications Firm experienced in producing metal fabrications similar to those indicated for Work of this Contract with a record of successful in-service performance and with sufficient production capacity to produce required units without delaying the Work Engineer Qualifications ‘A professional engineer who is legally qualified to practice in jurisdiction where construction site is located and who is experienced in providing engineering services required for applications shown on the Contract Drawings. Engineering services are defined as those performed for installations of metal stairs, handrails and rails that are similar to those shown on the Contract Drawings for Work of this Contract in material and design. Welding Standards Comply with applicable provisions of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code — Steel, AWS D1.3 Structural Welding Code — Sheet Steel and AWS D1.6 Structural Welding Code — Stainless Stee. Certify that each welder has satisfactorily passed AWS qualification tests for welding processes involved and if pertinent, has undergone recertification. Ensure that shop and/or field Quality Control inspections are performed by an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) before and during assembly as well as during and after welding. Submit all QC reports to the Engineer. All. welding procedures shall be qualified as required by AWS D1.1, AWS D1.3 and AWS DLS, Single Source Responsibility Obtain each type of handrail, railing and guard netting through one source from a single ‘manufacturer. Field Measurements Check actual locations of walls and other construction to which metal fabrications must fit, by taking accurate field measurements before fabricating. Verify handrail and railing dimensions by field measurements before fabrication. Show recorded measurements on Shop Drawings. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delaying the Work. 589) 0ss10 1.05 1.06 PART 2. 2.01 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING Protect material from damage, scratches, nicks, dents and gouges during delivery, storage, assembly and installation. Remove damaged material from the construction site and replace it at no cost to the Authority. SUBMITTALS See Appendix "A" for submittal requirements, PRODUCTS MATERIALS Ferrous Metals 1. Metal Surfaces: Smooth and free of surface blemishes including pitting, roughness, seam marks, roller marks and rolled trade names where exposed to view on finished stair surfaces, 2. Steel Plates, Shapes and Bars: ASTM A 36. 3. Structural Steel Sheet: Hot-rolled, ASTM A 1011, or cold-rolled ASTM A 1008, Class 1; of grade required for design loading, 4, Brackets, Flanges and Fittings: Cast or formed metal of the same type material and finish as supported rails, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. 5. Conerete Inserts: Threaded or wedge type; galvanized ferrous castings, either malleable iron, ASTM A 47 Grade 32510 or cast steel, ASTM A 27. Furnish bolts, washers and shims as required, hot-dip galvanized per ASTM A 153. Stainless Steel Tubing: ASTM A 554, Grade MT 3161 for exterior applications. Stainless Steel Pipe: ASTM A 312, Grade TP 3161 for exterior applications. Castings: fron-chromium and iron-chromium-nickel alloy: ASTM A 743, Grade CF 8M or CF 3M for exterior applications. 9. Stainless Steel Plate: ASTM A 666, Type 301, 302 or 304 for interior applications and Type 316L for exterior applications, 10. Wire Netting: Stainless steel wire ropes. ASTM A 492, Type 316. Welding Electrodes and Filler Metal Type and alloy of filler metal and electrodes as recommended by AWS D1.6 (producer of metal to be welded) and as required for color match, strength and compatibility in fabricated items Fasteners 1. General a. Zine-Plated: ASTM B 633, Class Fe/Zn 25 (Service Condition 4-very severe) for exterior use and Class Fe/Zn 8 (Service Condition 2-moderate) where built into exterior walls. Select fasteners for type, grade and class required for application shown on the Contract Drawings. 590 05510 b. Type 304 stainless steel. Use concealed fasteners for interconnection of handrail and railing components and for their attachment to other Work, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. Bolts and Nuts: Regular hexagon head bolts, ASTM A 307, Grade ; with hex nuts, ASTM A 563, and where indicated, flat washers. Machine Screws: ASME B18.6.3. Lag Bolts: ASME B18.2.1 Lock Washers: Helical, spring type, carbon steel, ASME B18.21.1. Plain Washers: Round, carbon steel, ASME B18.21.1 Expansion Anchors: Anchor bolt and sleeve assembly of material indicated below with capability to sustain, without failure, a load equal to 6 times the load imposed ‘when installed in unit masonry and equal to 4 times the load imposed when installed in conerete as determined by testing per ASTM E 488, conducted by a qualified independent testing agency. a. Exterior Locations: Stainless steel bolts complying with ASTM F 593, Alloy Group | or 2 and nuts complying with ASTM F 594. Paint ‘Shop Primer for Ferrous Metal Zinc-rich primer, complying with SSPC-Paint 20, compatible with substrates and finish paint systems shown on the Contract Drawings. Comply with applicable requirements of Division 9 Section on painting. Galvanizing Repair Paint High zinc dust content paint for regalvanizing welds in galvanized steel with dry film containing minimum 94 percent zinc dust content, complying with SSPC-Paint 20. Bituminous Paint: Cold-applied asphalt emulsion complying with ASTM D 1187. Grout Pre-mixed, factory-packaged, nonshrink, nonstaining, noncorrosive, nongaseous grout, complying with ASTM C 1107. Furnish grout specifically recommended by the ‘manufacturer for exterior applications, as shown on the Contract Drawings. Concrete Fill Conerete Materials and Properties ‘Comply with the requirements of Division 3 Section on conerete for normal weight, ready-mix concrete with minimum 28-day compressive strength of 2500 psi, minimum 440 tbs. cement per cu. yd. and maximum water/eement (W/C) ratio of 0.65, unless higher strengths are shown on the Contract Drawings, Non-Slip Aggregate Finish Factory-graded, packaged material containing fused aluminum oxide grits or crushed emery as abrasive aggregate; rust-proof and non-glazing; unaffected by freezing, ‘moisture or cleaning materials, where shown on the Contract Drawings 591 05510 Handrail LED Light Strip System Low voltage LED based light fixture integrated into the underside of handrail with lengths as shown on the contract drawings. Lens shall be clear and vandal resistant. LED brightness, color temperature and distribution shal be selected to provide general illumination along the adjacent walking surfaces or stairs to meet code requirements of authority having jurisdiction and as directed by Engineer. LED shall have an approximate life of 50,000 hours. The operating temperature shall be -40 degree F to 120 degree F. A remotely located 24VDC LED driver to transform and regulate the voltage to the LEDs shall be provided. The driver shall be protected against upen circu, short circuit, overload and overheating conditions. It shall be UL Class 2 listed and FCC compliant. The driver shall be housed in UL $0 listed enclosure which conforms to National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standard. Enclosure shall be supplied by manufacturer. Stainless Steel Wire Rope Assemblies General: Provide stainless steel wire rope assembly components as specified and as indicated on the Drawings, Manufacturer shall engineer and fabricate components, and assemblies for installation. Design requirements for individual components and wire rope shall be as indicated on the Drawings. Mounting Spacers and Brackets: Provide mounting spacers, brackets and fittings, required for attachment and connection to the structure and for support of stainless steel wire rope, wire netting, and metal rod as indicated on the Drawings. Spacer Clearance and Load: As selected by manufacturer to suit application and design requirements specified. b. Mounting Types: Fabricate from AISI Type 316 and 3161 stainless steel complying with ASTM F 1145; Provide sizes and types as required to meet project design conditions specified and indicated on Drawings including: Shop applied swaged rope ends: threaded extemal and internal swivel ends, turnbuckles, tensioning screws, end stops, clevis ends, eye ends, loop ends, and end cones. ©. Stainless Steel Bars and Shapes: Type 316 stainless steel conforming to ASTM A. 276. Provide sizes and shapes as required to meet project design conditions specified and indicated on Drawings. Wire netting: Parallel stainless steel wire ropes connected by reciprocally curved offset sleeves or clamps such that ropes are neither knotted nor crossed. Fittings and Connectors: Fabricate from AISI Type 316 and 316L stainless steel complying with ASTM F 1145. Fittings as manufactured by selected manufacturer. Provide sizes and types as required to meet project design conditions specified and indicated on Drawings and reviewed shop drawings including: Shop applied swaged rope ends: Threaded external and internal swivel ends, tumbuckles, tensioning screws, end stops, clevis ends, eye ends, loop ends, and end cones. ‘Screwed rope ends for on-site assembly: Threaded external and internal swivel ends, turnbuckles, tensioning screws, end stops, clevis ends, eye ends, loop ends, and end cones. Clamps: Ring clamps, cross clamps, wire rope clamping cones, and connecting wire rope clamps. Post fittings: Straight, angled, and spherical Accessories: Provide threaded couplings, tensioning screws, cover disks, eye bolts, eye nuts, carabineers, shackles, clips, welded rings, screws, washers, lock ‘nuts, hexagonal nuts, dome nuts, wall anchors, screws, and wire end caps as required to complete the installation. Fabrication: Verify dimensions on site prior to shop fabrication. Fabricate stainless steel in accordance with AIST Steel Product Manual and the manufacturers requirements. Shop fabricate to designs indicated on Drawings and to meet performance requirements specified. Shop fabricate fittings, interfacing parts and assemblies so that field cutting adjustments are not necessary. Coordinate requirements, dimensions and spacing of wire rope assemblies to ensure required factory drilled. Make exposed joints butt, flush, and hairline. Fabricate connections that will be exposed to weather in a manner to exclude water. Provide weep holes where water may accumulate. After fabrication, clean and de-scale stainless steel wire rope, fittings, and other components in accordance with ASTM A 380. Its the design intent that the stainless steel wire rope assemblies used in the stair guard assemblies be the same product type used as fencing in section 02832 Metallic-Coated Steel Chain Link Fence and Gates. FABRICATION General Fabricate units to sizes, shapes and profiles shown on the Contract Drawings or approved Shop Drawings. Fabricate from structural steel shapes, plates and steel bars of type, size and thickness as shown on the Contract Drawings or, if not shown, as required to produce strength and durability in finished product for intended use. 1. Shop Assembly: Preassemble items in shop to the greatest extent possible to minimize field splicing and assembly. Disassemble units only as necessary for shipping and handling limitations. Clearly match mark units for reassembly and coordinated installation, 2. Use welded construction with mitered joints for field connections, except as ‘otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. 3. Weld comers and seams continuously, complying with AWS D1.1 recommendations. At exposed connections, grind exposed welds smooth and flush to match and blend with adjoining surfaces. 4, Form exposed Work true to line and level with accurate angles and surfaces and straight sharp edges. Ease exposed edges to a radius of 1/32 inch, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. Form bent-metal comers to smallest radius possible without causing grain separation or otherwise impairing the Work. 5. Form exposed connections with hairline joints, flush and smooth, using concealed fasteners wherever possible. Use exposed fasteners of type shown on the Contract Drawings or, if not shown, Phillips flathead (countersunk) screws or bolts. Provide weep holes where water may accumulate. 7. Cut, reinforce, drill and tap components to receive anchorage, finish hardware and similar items. 8. Furnish anchorage of type shown on the Contract Drawings, coordinated with the supporting structure. Fabricate and space anchoring devices to provide adequate support for intended use. 594 05510 10, Equip units with integrally welded anchors for casting into concrete or building into masonry. Furnish inserts if units must be installed after concrete is placed. Galvanizing Zine coating by the hot-dip process for items shown on the Contract Drawings or specified in this Section to be galvanized. Coating thickness shall be as specified in the referenced standards. a. Rolled, pressed and forged iron and steel shapes, castings, plates, bars and strip b. Iron and steel! hardware: ASTM A 153. Steel Framed Stairs Construct stairs to conform to sizes and arrangements shown on the Contract Drawings and join pieces together by welding unless otherwise shown, Furnish complete stair assemblies including but not limited to metal framing, hangers, columns, railings, newels, balusters, struts, clips, brackets, bearing plates and other components necessary for the support of stairs and platforms and as required to anchor and contain the stairs on the supporting structure. Stair Framing Fabricate stringers of structural steel channels or plates, or a combination thereof, as shown on the Contract Drawings. Furnish closures for exposed ends of stringers. Construct platforms of structural steel channel headers and miscellaneous framing ‘members as shown on the Contract Drawings. Bolt or weld headers to stringers, newels and framing members to stringers and headers; fabricate and join so that bolts, if used, do not appear on finish surfaces. Metal Pan Risers, Subtreads and Subplatforms. Shape metal pans for risers and subtreads to conform to configuration shown on the Contract Drawings. Fumish thicknesses of structural steel sheet for metal pans shown but not less than required to support the total design loading, a, Form metal pans of cold-rolled carbon steel sheet, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. b. Directly weld risers and subtreads to stringers. Locate welds on side of metal pans to be concealed by concrete fill. Stair Railings and Handrails Comply with requirements specified elsewhere in this Section for steel pipe railings ‘and handrails and the following: a, Railings may be bent at comers, rail returns and wall retums, instead of using prefabricated fittings. b. Connect railing posts to stair framing by direct welding, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. 595 05510 D. Stainless Steel Pipe Railings and Handrails Fabricate handrails and railings to dimensions and details shown on the Contract, Drawings and as required to accept integrated LED lighting. Furnish handrail and railing ‘members in sizes and profiles shown on Contract Drawings, with supporting posts and brackets of size and spacing shown, but not less than required to support the design oadings. reassemble items in shop to the greatest extent possible to minimize field splicing and assembly. Disassemble units only as necessary for shipping and handling limitations. Clearly match mark units for reassembly and coordinated instalation. Shear and punch metals cleanly and accurately. Remove burrs and ease exposed edges to a radius of approximately 1/32 inch. Form bent-metal comers to smallest radius possible without causing grain separation or otherwise impairing the Work. Cut, reinforce, drill and tap components to receive anchorage, finish hardware and similar items. Close exposed ends of handrail and railing members with prefabricated end fittings. Furnish railing extensions at bottom and top of stairs as shown on the Contract Drawings. Form bends by using prefabricated elbow fittings and radius bends, as applicable, of, radii shown on the Contract Drawings, except where configuration shown requires bending of railing members. Fabricate connections that will be exposed to weather in a manner to exclude water. Where water may accumulate, provide weepholes. Manufacturers Subject to compliance with the requirements of this Section, furnish, and install railings and handrails with integrated LED light fixtures from one of the following: Eaton Corporation — i.0. Lighting Luxrail. Buffalo Grove, TL. ‘Wagner Companies - Lumenrail. Milwaukee, WI. Cole Lighting — Lightrail. South El Monte, CA. Steel Guardrails with Stainless Steel Wire Rope Barriers ‘Where guardrails are shown on the drawings, fabricate to dimensions and details shown on the Contract Drawings and as required to accept wire rope barriers. Provide parallel stainless steel wire ropes connected by reciprocally curved offset stainless steel sleeves or clamps such that ropes are neither knotted nor crossed. Product Selection It is the design intent that the manufacturer and product chosen for installation in this section shall be the same selected for similarly specified items in Specification Section 02832 Metallic - Coated Steel Chain Link Fence and Gates.. 596 05510 Welded Connections Fabricate handrails and railings with welded connections, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. Cope components at perpendicular and skew connections to provide close fit or use fittings designed for this purpose. Weld connections continuously to comply with the following: Use materials and methods that minimize distortion and develop strength and corrosion resistance of base metals. Obtain fusion without undercut or overlap. Remove flux immediately. At exposed connections, finish exposed surfaces smooth and blend so no roughness shows after finishing and so welded surface matches contours of adjoining surfaces. All welded permanent splices shall be complete penetration welds unless otherwise shown on the contract drawings. Nonwelded Connections Where railings are shown on the Contract Drawings to be adhesively or mechanically attached: Fabricate handrails and railings to accommodate interconnection of members using railing manufacturer's standard concealed mechanical fasteners and fittings. Assemble members and fittings to produce flush, smooth and rigid hairline joints. Splice joints for field connection shall use epoxy structural adhesive where such procedure represents manufacturer's standard splicing method. Brackets, Flanges, Fittings and Anchors Use manufacturer's standard wall brackets, flanges, miscellaneous fittings and anchors for interconnection of handrail and railing members to other Work. Furnish inserts and other anchorage devices as shown on the Contract Drawings and as required to provide support. Comply with requirements of SSPC-PA 1 for shop painting 1, Stripe paint all edges, comers, crevices, bolts, welds and sharp edges. SHOP FINISHING Stainless Steel Finishes Comply with NAAMM's Metal Finishes Manual for Architectural and Metal Products for recommendations for applying and designating finishes. Protect finishes on exposed surfaces with a strippable, temporary protective covering prior to shipment. 1. Finish designations prefixed by "AISI" conform to the system established by the American Iron and Steel Institute for designating stainless steel finishes. 2. Grind and polish surfaces to produce uniform, directionally textured and polished finish indicated, free of cross scratches. Run grain of directional finishes, if any, with long dimension of each piece. 3. Remove or blend tool and die marks and stretch lines into finish, 4, Furnish one or more of the following finishes, where shown on the Contract Drawings. Remove embedded foreign matter and leave surfaces chemically clean 598 05510 PART 3. 3.01 A EXECUTION PREPARATION Coordinate and furnish anchorages, setting drawings, diagrams, templates, instructions and directions for installation of anchorages, such as concrete inserts, sleeves, anchor bolts and miscellaneous items having integral anchors, that are to be embedded in concrete or masonry construction. Coordinate delivery of such items to the construction site in time for installation, 3.02 INSTALLATION A. Fastening to In-Place Construction Furnish and install anchorage devices and fasteners where necessary for securing metal stairs to construction in-place at the construction site, including threaded fasteners for ‘concrete and masonry inserts, toggle bolts, through-bolts, lag bolts, wood screws and ‘other connectors as required. Cutting, Fitting and Placement Perform cutting, drilling and fitting required for installation of metal stair fabrications. Set Work accurately in location, alignment and elevation, level, true and free of rack, measured from established lines and levels. Furnish and install temporary bracing or anchors in formwork for items that are to be built into concrete masonry or similar construction. Fit exposed connections accurately together to form tight hairline joints. Weld connections that are not to be left as exposed joints, but cannot be shop welded because of shipping size limitations. Grind exposed joints smooth and touch-up shop paint coat. Do not weld, cut or abrade surfaces of units that have been hot-dip galvanized after fabrication and are intended for bolted or screwed field connections. Field Welding ‘Comply with AWS D1.1 for procedures of manual shielded metal-are welding, appearance and quality of welds made and for methods used in correcting welding. Adjust railing prior to anchoring to ensure matching alignment at joints. Space posts as shown on the Contract Drawings or, if not shown, as required by design loadings. Plumb posts in each direction. Secure posts and railing ends to building construction as follows: Anchor posts to steel with steel oval flanges, angle type or floor type as required by conditions, welded to posts and bolted to steel supporting members. Anchor rail ends into concrete and masonry with steel round flanges welded to rail ends and anchored into wall construction with lead expansion shields and bolts. Anchor rail ends to steel with steel oval or round flanges welded to rail ends and bolted to structural steel members, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. Railing Connections Use fully welded, complete penetration weld joints for permanently connecting railing components, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings. Comply with requirements in 2.02 for welded connections whether welding is performed in the shop or in the field 599 05510 Where railing components are shown on the Contract Drawings to be mechanically or adhesively attached, use mechanical or adhesive joints for permanently connecting railing components. Prevent damage to railing members and fittings while making connections. G. Expansion Joints Install expansion joints at locations shown on the Contract Drawings but not farther apart than required to accommodate thermal movement. Furnish slip-joint internal sleeve extending 2 inches beyond joint on either side. Fasten internal sleeve securely to one side and locate joint within 6 inches of post. H. Concrete Filled Treads and Platforms Place and finish conerete fill for concrete treads and platforms, if any, to comply with Division 3 Section on concrete. Install abrasive nosings with anchors fully embedded in cconerete. L Cast Nosings 1. Install cast nosings with manufacturer's recommended anchorage system. Apply bituminous coating to concealed bottoms, sides and edges of cast-iron units set into conerete. 2. Nosings shall be centered and terminate not more than 3 inches from ends of treads for poured concrete stairs; nosings shall be full length of tread, less 1/8 inch clearance, on concrete filled steel pan stair treads, unless otherwise shown on the Contract Drawings, J Wire Rope Assemblies 1. Verify supporting system for stainless steel wire rope assemblies is prepared for attachment of anchors, fittings, wire rope, and wire netting and transfer of calculated Toads. 2. Install wire rope assemblies in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and the approved shop drawings. 3. Install components plumb, level, square, and rigid without kinks or sags. Anchor to mounting surfaces as indicated on the Drawings. 5. Separate dissimilar materials with bushings, grommets or washers to prevent electrolytic corrosion. 6. Use only manufacturer's supplied cable hardware. 7. Adjust wire rope tension and connecting hardware as required 3.03 ADJUSTING A. Touch-Up Painting 1, Shop Painted Surfaces: Immediately after erection, clean field welds, bolted connections and abraded areas of shop paint. Paint exposed areas with same material as used for shop painting to comply with SSPC-PA 1 for touching up shop painted surfaces. Apply by brush or spray in a minimum dry film thickness of 2.0 mils. 2. Galvanized Surfaces: Immediately after erection, clean field welds, bolted connections and abraded areas. Apply galvanizing repair paint to comply with ASTM A 780. 600 05510 3.04 3. tthe construction site, repair finishes of handrails and railings damaged as a result, of the Contractor's operations or furnish and install new railings. Remove handrails and railings whose finish cannot be repaired at the construction site and either return them to the fabrication shop, restore the finishes and reinstall, or furnish and install new handrails and railings. All such remedial Work shall be performed to the satisfaction of the Engineer and at no cost to the Authority. PROTECTION Protect finishes of handrails and railings from damage by use of temporary protective coverings approved by the railing manufacturer. Remove protective covering when other Work of the Contract is completed or when directed by the Engineer. Include plans, elevations and details of sections and connections. Show anchorage and accessory items. Furnish templates for anchor and bolt installation under other Sections if required. 1. Samples for each type of stainless steel finish shown on the Contract Drawings. Prepare samples on metal of same gauge and alloy to be used in Work. Where normal color and texture variations are to be expected, samples shall show limits of such. variations. 2. Include 6 inch long samples of distinctly different railing members including handrails. Include samples of fittings and handrail brackets 3. Include 12 inch square samples of guardrail mesh to include perimeter fittings. Manufacturer's technical information, specifications, anchor details and installation instructions for products used in metal stair fabrications, including grout and paint products. Submit design calculations signed and sealed by a professional engineer licensed in the state in which Work is to be performed, showing compliance with Design and Performance Requirements loading criteria. 1, Fabricator: Experience, in-service performance and capability qualifications 2.
