Student with learning difficulties have the same psychological need and characteristics as
other student. Some of them however may be less able to comprehend abstracts ideas and concepts.
Some may have poor memory, poor level of motivation and short span of attention in work situations
or associated behavioral reading problems. Non-readers and behavior reading problems can surface.
They can perform poorly in other subjects because they cannot read and understand the materials.
Often the readers tend to give-up.
In this case, Filipino, English and Mathematics teachers from Secondary grades are providing
extra instructional time to help students achieve levels of literacy and numeracy that will enable them
to be successful through their school careers and beyond.
The Project READ program will help the students to develop and give additional time to help
students who have fallen behind to learn to the best of their ability in the midst of pandemic and new
normal set-up of education.
Reading is fundamental. It is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you
can be. Teaching our students to read helps them to develop their language skills. Most importantly, it
can not only help readers become a better student, but a better person. It also helps them learn to
listen.
V. Project Description:
San Nicolas Integrated School will be organized a program on Reading Readiness in the Adopting
New Normal in order to increase their level of literacy and numeracy. This aim is to overcome the problems
and challenges brought about by the New Normal Education in reading.
The language and math teachers with the help of class advisers will determine the students who need
remediation based on their assessment tool in their pre-assessment. The said teachers will monitor and
evaluate the struggling readers to decrease the numbers of slow/non-readers.
The target beneficiaries of Project READ will be the 126 students from grade 7 to grade 10 of
San Nicolas Integrated School.
The proposed budget for the Project READ will be amounting to Five Hundred Pesos (500.00)
for printing reading materials and specific activities.
The Project READ will be done on October 3-7, 2021, wherein the target participants were the
