Process principle
METAL TRANSFER MODE The filler metal is transferred by an
electric arc between the core wire
of the coated electrode and the work
piece.
Metal core wire The heat emitted by the electric arc
Crater Coating simultaneously melts the base metal
Penetration of Slag Protective (work piece), the metal core wire and
the weld bead atmosphere Metallic drops the coating of the electrode, thus
in transit in creating the weld pool that receives
the arc the droplets of melted filler metal
and slag transferred into the plasma
Workpiece Weld bead Molten pool of the arc.
Constituents of the electrode coating
are volatilised, thus helping
to create the arc atmosphere.
The low-density melted coating
covers the weld pool and forms the
slag that protects the deposited
metal during and after solidification.

Its power supply is ensured directly by the arc
voltage. It is therefore very simple to implement
and does not require an auxiliary transformer.
Using the DV YARD wire feeder you can transform your MMA power
source into an authentic MIG/MAG welding source. Air Liquide Welding
recommends to use it with CV power source for best welding performances.
When properly installed, the DV YARD will enable you to obtain high-quality
welds with a good visual appearance.

The DV YARD wire feeder is robustly constructed in a reinforced moulded

case to give a fully enclosed wire feed unit which is well sealed against the
elements. Due to rugged construction they are ideal for all site welding in
harsh environments and are also easily portable. The DV YARD wire feeder
is fitted with an extra heavy duty contactor with oversized contacts
to allow welding up to 425 A.

METAL TRANSFER MODE
An electric arc is created between a non

MIG/MAG Welding Process

METAL TRANSFER MODE
The MIG/MAG welding processes use
an arc under gaseous protection.
Torch
The electrode is a metallic wire.
The electrode, the metal transferred in the arc
Nozzle
and the weld bead are protected from the
Contact tip atmosphere by an inert gas for MIG welding
Gaseous protection Electrode wire
and an active gas for MAG welding.
The definition explains the names MIG
(Metal Inert Gas) and MAG (Metal Active Gas).
Molten weld pool Weld bead
In manual welding this process is called
semi-automatic because the wire is fed
automatically as soon as the arc starts.

Synergic MIG:
The welding parameters are
programmed in the power
source set for a common
evolution according to a
predefined law. One single
setting is needed which
facilitates the use of those
machines and improves the
welding quality.

2 Times mode:
Welding starts by pulling the
torch’s trigger. It stops
by releasing the trigger.

Spot mode:
The power source starts
to weld when the trigger
is pulled, but welding
stops automatically after a
pre-set delay.

Intermittent mode:
This is a point mode which
is repeatable. If the pressure
on the trigger is maintained,
welding will be re-started
after another delay which
is also regulated.

PLASMA CUTTING PROCESS
Plasma cutting can be used on all
conductive materials. In this process,

Cooling compressed air is blown at high speed out
of a nozzle; at the same time an electrical
arc is formed through the gas from the
nozzle to the surface being cut, turning

by using a high capacity battery.
But if this unit is not properly maintained by the user
then it inevitably leads to a loss of performance.
And even though modern batteries are designed to
