1. (a) Kofi is n years old now

(i) How old was he 5 years ago?

(ii) How old will he be 10 years from now?

(ii) If his age in 10 years time will be four times his age 5 years
ago, how old is he now?

(b) A trader paid ¢1500.00 for 6 drinking cups. One of the cups
got broken. He sold the remaining 5, making a profit of 10%.
Calculate

(i) the cost price of each of the six cups;

(ii) the selling price of each of the five cups;

(iii) the profit made on each cup sold.


(c) Find the value of the expression 2x – 3y, if x = ⅓ and y = - ½

2. (a). The table below shows the scores of some students in


an examination.

From the table find


(i) how many students wrote the examination
(ii) the modal score

3. (a) The perimeter of a rectangular plot of land whose
length is (2x+5) m and width (x – 10) is 80m. Find the

(i) value of x;

(ii) area of the plot;

(iii) cost of weeding the plot at GH¢ 0.24 per m²

(b) In the quadrilateral ABCD above, |AB| = 3 cm,


|BC| = 4 cm, |CD| = 12 cm and angle ABC = 90°.
Calculate:

(i) the perimeter of ABCD


(ii) the area of ABCD

(c). Find the sum of 2,483.65, 701.532 and 102.7,


leaving your answer to one decimal place.

4. (a) A rectangular tank of length 22 cm, width 9 cm and


height 16 cm is filled with water. The water is poured
into a cylindrical container of radius 6 cm. is filled with
water. Calculate the :

(i) volume of the rectangular tank

(ii) depth of water in the cylindrical container.


[Take π = 22/7]

(b) The area of a trapezium is 31.5 cm²


If the parallel sides are of lengths 7.3 cm and 5.3 cm,
calculate the perpendicular distance between them.

(c) A fair die is thrown once,

(i) Write down the set of all the possible outcomes

(ii) Find the probability of obtaining a multiple of 2

(iii) What is the probability of obtaining a prime number?
