Welcome!

I’ve created this 7-step checklist (Mind Shifts) especially for you, the amazing human who’s
ready to become your authentic self; in other words…..who you were born and are meant to
be. You’re ready for success and fulfillment!

You’re tired of feeling stuck, sad, anxious, empty and/or that something is missing or wrong….
This checklist, when put into action, gives you the tools and personal power to change and
improve your thought and belief patterns, so that your inside (inner voice, dreams, desires)
matches your outside (your present reality).

It’s time for you to blossom into the real you and transform your results, personally and
professionally and live YOUR unique vision and version of SUCCESS.

This is the bottom line. Once you learn and get help to make these shifts, you’re on your way
to transforming your thoughts, behaviors, actions and consequently, creating a new life &
destiny!

With each of these 7 Life-Changing MIND SHIFT steps, I will give you easy, practical and very
helpful tips, reminders and exercises that you can take action on…. right away!

This means awareness of yourself and of others.

Become the objective observer of your thoughts


and beliefs and learn how to question them. To
start, just know that the vast majority of your
thoughts (over 90%) are just not true!

Your subconscious thoughts (automatic, default)


are really running the show and your life, so the
idea is to learn how to connect your subconscious
beliefs and thoughts to your conscious mind (daily
life thoughts).

REMINDER: You are NOT your thoughts. You


become the observer of your thoughts…..
Look closely at your thoughts and question them.
You can ask yourself, “are these other people’s
voices” (from your past, family, society, culture)?
“Are these really MY beliefs, those which align with
who I really am now…..the AUTHENTIC me?”

It is vital to DEFINE success for yourself; what it


means to you, what it looks and feels like for you. It
may be quite different than those around you or
from how you were taught.

REMINDER: Write down YOUR unique and personal


definition of success, on a colorful post-it and hang it
up where you can see it often (ie: on your bathroom
mirror, on your work computer, etc.)

Self-awareness is the first step to finding or re-


discovering the real you, the part of you that may
have been buried deep down inside (your
subconscious mind), the you who is joyful, flexible,
resilient and experiences ‘joie de vivre,’ (zest for life).
You deserve it! You’re worthy, no matter what you’ve
been through or what your present circumstances
may be. You are unique and beautiful. You are
enough...just as you are!

Every hour, stop what you’re doing, get up and
stretch or shake yourself out or dance around the
room. Take a couple of minutes to observe your
thoughts. “What are they telling you?” “Are they
helpful or self-critical or judgmental toward
others?” “Are these thoughts that help propel you
forward in your life?”

2.
NTT/PTT: Negative Thought Time & Positive
Thought Time. This is an exercise I teach many of
my coaching clients. You can start by taking 5
minutes (and then increase it to 10 minutes) and set
your alarm. You just sit comfortably and let all those
negative, ugly, self-critical, angry thoughts do their
thing. Allow them to go wild. Then, when the alarm
rings, you STOP. Have a paper and pen with you
and, if you want, after the 5 minutes, write down
some of the important and repetitive thoughts that
have come up in your mind. You may find that, over
time, you see patterns emerging. Then, you can
start looking closely at at these patterns and start to
do the work of transforming them.

For PTT, you find 5 minutes (then, to 10 minutes)


later in the day and you sit and focus on allowing
ONLY positive thoughts to come up. Our brains
have a natural negativity bias (originally for safety
and survival), so this is an antidote to it. You may
notice how challenging it is to stay on a positive
thought, about yourself or your life, for more than a
few seconds. Keep going and when the 5 minutes
are up, you can ‘pat yourself on the back.’ You are
TRAINING and MASTERING your Mind to spend
more time and energy focusing on the positive.

Practice MINDFULNESS daily.

Take at least 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes later in the day, to
become mindful of what you’re doing. For example, if you’re washing the
dishes, be aware of your 5 senses (to ground you and bring you back to
where you are). “How does the soap smell?” How does the stream of water
feel on your hands?” “What do you hear around you; birds, music?” “Do you
see the colorful bubbles forming?” You get the idea...

It's amazing to realize just how much joy and gratitude there is when you’re
mindful. It may be while you’re walking in the street or in a park, cooking,
cleaning, working; anywhere and any time.

If you don’t know who you really are, you’ll
never know what you really want...

Know WHO you really are and WHY you’re


here and what you’re meant to be doing. The
Japanese call this ‘ikigai;’ we may call it
purpose or mission. It’s not about what others
think about you or what they think you should
be doing. It’s what you desire (according to
your likes, gifts, talents, qualities) and what
fulfills you and brings you joy.

The only way to truly know this is to look inside


(body/mind/heart/soul), listen and do the
‘inner work,’ which leads to your successful
and fulfilling inner and outer life (personal and
professional). The process and progress goes
from inner to outer, which is not always the
way our society tells us to do it.
You connect your subconscious desires and
dreams to your conscious, daily life to become
aligned with the true YOU.

You get to really know the true you when you


discover (or re-discover) your purpose(s),
passions, values, priorities and what gives you
contentment and joy. By the way, these can,
and most likely, will change over the span of
your life. It is essential to get to and know your
purpose (ikigai) or mission….something larger
than yourself……….to lead a life of meaning.
Once you become aware of, accept and align
to the authentic you, you begin the most
exciting and healing journey of your
life……….back to you and who you are meant to
be.
You were born with certain talents, gifts and
qualities that make you unique and an
important part of the world. It’s now YOUR
time to become aware of them, accept them,
celebrate them and even, share them with
others and the world.

Become aware of when and where you feel
‘joy,’ being ‘in the flow,’ or feel as if time passes
quickly without you being aware of it.

These are the activities and thoughts that are


meant for you. If your body feels relaxed and
energized, you mind feels focused, engaged
and curious, and you feel peace and joy inside,
these are your HINTS to listen, to write them
down and to keep doing them over and over.
They will surely answer many of your
questions…about your likes, passions, priorities,
career choices and even, your mission or
purposes in life.

Get very clear on WHO you are, your WHY Since these subconscious thoughts are

meant to do. You also want to get clarity on culture, we tend to stay with them (like

This is when you know that the time has come to start the
inner work and the healing journey, if needed, that will,
ultimately, bring you…to you.

Let’s be honest. This may sound simple but it’s not easy. Often,
to change these old, automatic, default thought patterns, you
must change the neural pathways (circuits) in your brain.
These circuits consist of neurons (nervous system cells) that
have been ‘firing’ together for years, even decades. To change
these often takes a lot of repeating, and being consistent and
persistent. It’s also important to understand the connection
between: the body & mind, the conscious & the subconscious
and more.

This journey consists of ups and downs, a ‘rollercoaster ride’


toward wholeness, success and fulfilment. You must repeat,
repeat, repeat and practice, practice, practice. It’s not a linear
path, so there are no clear rules. Each person is unique.
It’s important to get help; it’s a challenging trip to make alone
and it is a trip absolutely worth taking!

When you start aligning all aspects of your life with the
authentic you, good things happen. You start to feel more joy,
peace, calm, a greater ‘joie de vivre,’ and you have more ‘in the
flow’ thoughts and experiences in your life.

This is SUCCESS! It’s your unique and fabulous success. Your


anxiety and feelings of being stuck, sad and empty are
diminished. You feel more hopeful and optimistic about your
present life and the opportunities for your future.

‘Pat yourself on your back’.
This is usually the first exercise I teach my clients. As
mentioned previously, our mind has a negativity bias and
though it was meant (ages ago) for survival and safety, it may
be getting in your way today.

When you pat yourself on the back, this is one antidote to this
negativity bias we all have. Also, it reminds you,
physiologically, that you should give yourself some credit (ie:
for a good thought, behavior, action). It also makes you smile,
which stimulates the vagus nerve (which runs through your
facial muscles and many of your major organs), part of your
parasympathetic nervous system or PNS (as opposed to your
sympathetic nervous system: fight, flight, freeze or fawn). Your
PNS is the ‘rest & digest’ part of your autonomic nervous
system.

So, your body relaxes, then your mind follows…

Practice patting yourself on the back as much as you can,


several times/day. It can be for a helpful thought or for a small
step you’ve taken toward a goal or for doing this ‘work’...all to
move you forward in your life.

Have you heard the expression, ‘knowledge is
power’?

If you don’t take action though, it is just


dreaming and fantasy. Dreaming is great and
has its place but without the step of taking
ACTION, what you have to offer: your unique
talents, gifts and qualities, never get out of you
nor into the world.

Each of us comes into this world with our own


set of skills, talents and qualities and these are
meant to be expressed and then, shared with
others. The combination and differences in our
gifts makes life and the world interesting and
a place to learn and grow.

You may need encouragement, tools,


accountability and more, to really understand
and learn how to make these changes, so you
know who you are, what you want and what
you’re here for.

Go for it! Start with small (even baby) steps


and take action…toward your intentions, goals
and success.

Write down 5 major goals for your life
(personal and professional) as it is now.

Then ‘reverse engineer’ one goal at a time. Go


backwards and write out the first small step
you would have to accomplish to get to your
goal.

Make sure you ‘pat yourself on the back’ for


doing this exercise (and writing it down) and
also, each time you complete a baby step in
the process.

It’s great to dream but now, you are ready to


take that step…just one small step at a time.

Just do it!

So now you’re doing the work and/or on your
healing journey. You learn how to feel your
feelings (not suppress or repress them), go
with the ups and downs of your feelings and
your life. Then, it’s time to ‘let go’ and trust,
both yourself and the universe, to have your
back.

REMINDER: feel your feelings, emotions,


sensations! This can be challenging and
sometimes, painful but once you feel them,
you heal them.
Remember that your thoughts, feelings and
emotions are temporary! Just say to yourself,
“This too shall pass.”

Now, it’s time to just let go...

You must be patient...very patient.

You’ve been repeating these automatic,


default thought and belief patterns for most of
your life. It takes some time to change them.
One step at a time. One small shift at a time.
You can do it, with support, repetition and self-
compassion. Be gentle and kind with yourself.

Et voila…you feel like ‘you.’

definition of success, purpose, joy and
fulfillment!
