2024: The year of raising eternal pillars

KEY VERSE:

"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders' labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain." - Psalm 127:1 (NIV)

As we enter 2024, we embark on a journey of purpose, faith, and resilience. The theme for this year
is inspired by the notion of "raising pillars" — symbolic representations of the foundations we build
in our lives, communities, and relationships. The key verse, Psalm 127:1, serves as a guiding principle,
reminding us of the importance of aligning our efforts with the divine.

MONTHLY THEMES

1. January- Laying Cornerstones and set a clear vision

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." - Genesis 1:1

At the start of the year, let us reflect on the foundational aspects of our lives. Just as God laid the
cornerstone of creation, we too must lay solid foundations in our endeavours, relationships, and
spiritual journey.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." - Proverbs
29:18

Lay the groundwork for the year by setting a vision aligned with divine principles.

Sub-themes Verses Inspiration

The foundation of creation Genesis 1:1 In the very act of creation, God
laid the cornerstone of the
universe. The heavens and the
earth were established on a
foundation crafted by the
hands of the Almighty. This
teaches us the importance of a
solid foundation in everything
we do.

Building on Solid Ground Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus, in Matthew 7:24-27,

speaks of the wise builder who
constructs his house on rock,
emphasizing the significance of
building on a firm foundation.
As we step into this new year,
let us ensure that our
endeavors, relationships, and
spiritual journey are grounded
in the unwavering truth of
God's Word.

Vision and Purpose Proverbs 29:18 Proverbs 29:18 reminds us,

"Where there is no vision, the
people perish: but he that
keepeth the law, happy is he."
The laying of cornerstones
goes hand in hand with having
a clear vision. Without a vision,
we may lose our way, but with
divine guidance, we find
purpose and happiness.

Divine Guidance Proverbs 3:5-6 As we set our vision for the

year, let us trust in the Lord
with all our hearts and lean
not on our understanding, as
stated in Proverbs 3:5-6. In
acknowledging God's
guidance, we pave the way for
a purposeful and fulfilling
journey.

Seeking God's Will James 4:13-15 James 4:13-15 reminds us of

the importance of seeking
God's will in our plans. Let our
vision be aligned with God's
purpose, recognizing that His
plans are far greater than our
own.

Vision Beyond Circumstances 2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by

sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). Our
vision must transcend current
circumstances. Trusting in
God's promises, we can
navigate the uncertainties of
the future with confidence.

Trusting God's Timing Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 To everything, there is a

season, a time for every
purpose under heaven"
(Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Understanding God's timing is
essential in setting our vision.
Let us trust that His timing is
perfect.”

Honoring God in Plans Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whatever

you do, and he will establish
your plans" (Proverbs 16:3).
Involve God in your plans, and
He will guide your steps
Vision for Holiness 1 Peter 1:15-16 "But as he which hath called
you is holy, so be ye holy in all
manner of conversation" (1
Peter 1:15). Let our vision
include a pursuit of holiness in
all aspects of our lives.

Pursuing Righteousness Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of

God and his righteousness, and
all these things will be added
to you" (Matthew 6:33). A
clear vision includes a
commitment to seeking God's
righteousness above all else.

Guarding our hearts Proverbs 4:23 "Above all else, guard your
heart, for everything you do
flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23).
Our vision should reflect a
heart that is aligned with God's
Word.

Building on the Rock: 12. 1 Corinthians 3:11 "For no one can lay any
foundation other than the one
already laid, which is Jesus
Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:11).
Christ is our cornerstone, and
any vision we set should be
built upon Him
Faithful Stewardship 1 Corinthians 4:2 "Now it is required that those
who have been given a trust
must prove faithful" (1
Corinthians 4:2). Our vision
involves faithful stewardship of
the gifts and opportunities
God has given us.

Perseverance in Vision Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in

doing good, for at the proper
time we will reap a harvest if
we do not give up" (Galatians
6:9). Persevere in the vision
God has placed in your heart.

God's Plan for Good Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for
you, declares the Lord, plans
for welfare and not for evil, to
give you a future and a hope"
(Jeremiah 29:11). Trust in
God's good and hopeful plans
for your life.

The Light of Gods word Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my

feet and a light to my path"
(Psalm 119:105). Let the vision
be guided by the illuminating
light of God's Word.

Unity in Vision Philippians 2:2 "Complete my joy by being of

the same mind, having the
same love, being in full accord
and of one mind" (Philippians
2:2). Strive for unity in the
vision among believers.

Vision of Generosity 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 "The point is this: whoever

sows sparingly will also reap
sparingly, and whoever sows
bountifully will also reap
bountifully" (2 Corinthians
9:6). Envision a life of
generosity and blessing others.

Hope in Vision Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you
with all joy and peace in
believing, so that by the power
of the Holy Spirit you may
abound in hope" (Romans
15:13). Let your vision be
infused with the hope that
comes from God.

Commissioned for God's Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make

Purpose: disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to observe all that I have
commanded you" (Matthew
28:19-20). Our ultimate vision
is aligned with the Great
Commission—making disciples
for the glory of God.

2. February - Building with Love and unity

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." -
John 13:34

In the month of love, let us focus on building compassion, empathy, and kindness pillars. By
incorporating the essence of love into our actions, we strengthen the pillars of our communities and
relationships.

Also.

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." - 1 Peter 4:8

Build pillars of love and unity in your personal and professional relationships.

Sharing---

As we will be entering the month of February, our focus turns to the divine commandment found
in John 13:34, where Jesus instructs us, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have
loved you, so you must love one another." In the spirit of this command, let us embrace the theme
of "Building with Love and Unity." This month, we are called to construct pillars of compassion,
empathy, and kindness, echoing the love demonstrated by our Savior. 1 Peter 4:8 reinforces this
message, urging us to "above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of
sins." In both our personal and professional relationships, let love be the cornerstone upon which
we build, knowing that it has the power to mend, strengthen, and unite. May the essence of love
permeate our actions and interactions, solidifying the pillars of our communities and relationships
with grace and understanding.

3. March – Faith and Courage as the Framework

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." - Hebrews
11:1

Explore the concept of faith as the framework that supports our endeavours. Just as a building
requires a strong framework, our lives are sustained by the unwavering faith we place in our dreams
and aspirations.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be
with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9

Strengthen your faith and courage to face challenges with confidence.

Hebrews 11:1 lays the foundation, stating, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and
assurance about what we do not see." Let us delve into the profound concept of faith as the
framework that supports our endeavors. Much like a sturdy building requires a strong framework,
our lives are sustained by the unwavering faith we place in our dreams and aspirations. Joshua 1:9
urges us to "be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your
God will be with you wherever you go." This month, let our faith be the structural backbone,
providing strength and courage to face challenges with unwavering confidence. Drawing
inspiration from these scriptures, may our lives be built on the solid framework of faith, trusting in
the presence of our Almighty God in every step we take.

4. April - Perseverance and Patience

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not
give up." - Galatians 6:9

Cultivate perseverance and patience in your pursuits.

Sharing—

In April, let us reflect on the timeless wisdom of Perseverance and Patience as we daily work on
our dreams and aspirations." Galatians 6:9 sets the tone, urging us, "Let us not become weary in
doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." In a world that
often demands instant results, the Bible calls us to cultivate perseverance and patience in our
pursuits. This enduring quality is not only a testament to our faith but also a powerful
demonstration of trust in God's timing. As we navigate the complexities of daily life and work
towards our dreams, let us draw inspiration from scriptures that guide us in the virtues of
perseverance and patience.

Key verses

 James 1:3-4: "Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let
perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking
anything."
 Romans 5:3-4: "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that
suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."
 Hebrews 10:36: "You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you
will receive what he has promised."
 2 Thessalonians 3:13: "And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is
good."
 Psalm 37:7: "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people
succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes."
 Proverbs 24:16: "For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked
stumble when calamity strikes."
 Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on
wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
 Philippians 4:13: "I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
In our lives, perseverance and patience weave threads of resilience, character, and hope. Let us,
therefore, embrace these virtues as we diligently work towards our dreams, trusting in the
promise that, in God's perfect time, we will reap a bountiful harvest. May the Holy Spirit empower
us to endure, and may our journey be marked by the steadfast pursuit of the dreams and
aspirations God has placed within our hearts. Amen.

5. May - Gratitude and Contentment

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Reflect on gratitude and find contentment in God's blessings.

Sharing--

In our Christian journey, let us offer a testament of gratitude and contentment, recognizing that
every good and perfect gift comes from above (James 1:17). In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we are
reminded to "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Gratitude becomes a spiritual practice that transforms our perspective, acknowledging the
abundance of blessings bestowed upon us. The Apostle Paul sets an example in Philippians 4:11-
13, proclaiming contentment in every situation, affirming, "I have learned to be content whatever
the circumstances." As we navigate the ebb and flow of life, let our hearts overflow with
thanksgiving, for contentment rooted in Christ is the key to a life of profound joy and unwavering
peace.

6. June - Humility and Service

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for
many." - Mark 10:45

Embrace humility and the joy of serving others.

Sharing--

In the sacred space of humility and service, our hearts are called to emulate the exemplar of
servanthood, Jesus Christ. God beckons us to follow the footsteps of our Savior, who, in John 13:3-17,
knelt to wash the feet of His disciples, demonstrating that true leadership is found in humble service.
Philippians 2:5-8 further illuminates this virtue, urging us to adopt the same mindset as Christ, who
humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death on the cross. In the biblical narrative,
examples such as the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) showcase humility through selfless service,
transcending societal boundaries for the sake of others. As we delve into this month, let us aspire to
embody the humility exemplified by Christ, seeking opportunities to serve one another with grace,
compassion, and an unwavering love that echoes the very heart of our Lord.
7. July - Wisdom and Guidance

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways
submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Seek divine wisdom and guidance in decision-making.

Sharing—

Seeking God's wisdom and guidance in our lives is paramount, as it anchors our decisions, actions,
and journey in alignment with divine principles. Proverbs 3:5-6 lays a foundational truth, urging us
to "Trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our understanding; in all our ways submit
to him, and he will make our paths straight." This verse emphasizes the significance of
surrendering our plans to God, and acknowledging His omniscient guidance. James 1:5 reinforces
the value of seeking divine wisdom, proclaiming, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." The Psalms echo this
sentiment, with Psalm 32:8 assuring, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I
will counsel you with my loving eye on you." In the grand tapestry of life, God's wisdom is the
compass that steers us through uncertainty, as reflected in Isaiah 30:21, "Whether you turn to the
right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'" These
scriptures collectively underscore the profound importance of seeking God's wisdom and
guidance, recognizing that His infinite understanding surpasses our finite comprehension, leading
us along paths of righteousness and purpose.

8. August - Diligence and Excellence

"Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before
officials of low rank." - Proverbs 22:29

Excel in your work with diligence, knowing it brings honor.

Sharing--

In Proverbs 22:29: "Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they
will not serve before officials of low rank." This scripture heralds the importance of excelling in our
endeavours with unwavering diligence, recognizing that it brings honour. This month, we will
centre on "Diligence and Excellence: Keys to the Realization of Our Dreams." Proverbs call us to
not merely engage in work but to do so with skill and commitment, for it is through diligence that
doors of opportunity swing wide. Diligence is the seed from which excellence blossoms, and
excellence, in turn, paves the path to success. Let us draw inspiration from the biblical mandate to
"work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23), understanding that our diligence
is a reflection of our devotion to God. Through diligence and excellence, we position ourselves for
divine favour, serving not just in the presence of kings but in the courts of destiny, where our
dreams find fulfillment. May this month be a catalyst for a renewed commitment to diligence and
excellence, knowing that as we pursue our work with passion and skill, we honour the God who
has endowed us with such abilities. Amen.

9. September - Family and Unity

"But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has
denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." - 1 Timothy 5:8

Foster unity and support within the family structure.

Sharing—

Brethren, let us centre our hearts on the sanctity of family and the transformative power of unity.
Inspired by Ephesians 4:3, which implores us to "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace," today's sermon echoes the divine call for familial harmony. The Bible,
in Psalm 133:1, celebrates the beauty of unity, proclaiming, "How good and pleasant it is when
God’s people live together in unity!" Within our families, unity becomes a testament to God's love,
a force that fortifies relationships and weathers life's storms. In Colossians 3:13-14, we are
encouraged to bear with one another and to clothe ourselves with love, the binding agent that
fosters unity. As we stand on the foundation of God's Word, let us prioritize unity within our
families, recognizing it as a sacred bond that not only reflects the character of our Heavenly Father
but also fortifies the very core of our homes. May this month serve as a call to cultivate unity,
forgiveness, and love within our families, honoring God and nurturing a haven of strength,
support, and unwavering togetherness. Amen.

10. October - Spiritual Growth and Discipleship

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." - 2 Peter 3:18

Focus on spiritual growth and discipleship in your faith journey.

Sharing--

As we embark on the journey of building our dreams, let us be steadfast in recognizing the
profound significance of spiritual growth and discipleship. In Philippians 3:13-14, the apostle Paul
encourages us to press on toward the goal, acknowledging that our spiritual journey is an integral
part of the dream-building process. The Bible underscores the transformative power of spiritual
growth in Colossians 2:6-7, urging us to be rooted and built up in Christ, strengthened in faith as
we abound in thanksgiving. Moreover, the mandate of discipleship is inherent in Matthew 28:19-
20, where Jesus instructs us to go and make disciples, intertwining our dreams with the
responsibility to lead others on the path of spiritual growth. In the tapestry of building dreams,
spiritual maturity and discipleship become threads that strengthen the fabric of our endeavours,
ensuring that our pursuits align with God's purpose and are sustained by the roots of deepened
faith. May this month be a catalyst for intentional spiritual growth, recognizing that in our journey
towards dreams, the development of our inner being is as crucial as the external achievements we
strive for. Amen.

11. November - Abundance and Generosity

"A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." - Proverbs 11:25
Experience abundance and share generously with others.

Sharing--

As highlighted in Proverbs 11:25, there is the reciprocal nature of generosity and the resulting
abundance. In November, lets manifest abundance and generosity in the following ways:

 Tithing and Offerings: In Malachi 3:10, God challenges us to bring the whole tithe into the
storehouse, promising abundant blessings in return.
 Acts of Kindness: The Good Samaritan, as illustrated in Luke 10:25-37, exemplifies
generosity through selfless acts of kindness, demonstrating that generosity goes beyond
financial giving.
 Sharing Resources: The early Christian community in Acts 4:32-35 shared their possessions,
ensuring that no one among them was in need. This communal generosity resulted in
abundance for all.
 Hospitality: Abraham's generous hospitality to strangers in Genesis 18 led to the fulfilment
of God's promise of a son, showcasing the link between generosity and blessing.
 Forgiving Debts: In the Year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25), debts were forgiven, and land was
returned to its original owners, reflecting God's principle of generosity and economic
justice.
 Investing in Others: Jesus, in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), encourages us
to invest the resources and talents God has given us for the benefit of His kingdom,
fostering both abundance and generosity.

By practicing these principles, we will not only experience abundance in various aspects of life but
also become conduits of God's generosity in the lives of others. In the kingdom of God, generosity
begets abundance, creating a cycle of blessing that reflects the heart of our benevolent Creator.

12. December - Reflection and Celebration

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow
with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." - Romans 15:13

Reflect on the year, celebrate achievements, and enter the new year with hope.

May the foundation we will lay in 2024 serve as a testament to the power of aligning our efforts with
divine principles. We will celebrate the growth, learnings, and achievements, knowing that, indeed,
"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain."
