I. MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

TESTOSTERONE – refers to the MALE SEX HORMONES. It is


responsible for the changes occur in the male body during Puberty
stage

EXTERNAL PARTS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN

Penis – is the passageway of sperm, semen and urine out of the male
system.
Penis is used for excretion of waste;
Penis is used to deliver semen to female organ during the
intercourse.

Scrotum – pouch skin located below the penis.


Scrotum keep te temperature of the testes lower than the
external body temperature.

Testes or Testicles – primary sex organs of man. It produce sperm


and testosterone.

Spermatogenesis – is the process of producing sperm.


INTERNAL PARTS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN

VAS DEFERENS – A long muscular tube connected to the epididymis,


transports mature sperm to the urethra

URETHRA - carries urine or sperm and excretes it out of the human


body.

EPIDIDYMIS – A long coiled tube that takes immature sperm in the


testis and mature them

SEMINAL VESICLES – produce fluid that provides an energy source


for the sperm and contributes to its mobility and viability.

PROSTATE GLAND – A walnut-sized structure that secretes


additional fluid, which provide nutrients for the sperm.

II. FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

EXTERNAL PARTS OF THE FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN


a. VULVA – general term for the external female reproductive parts
b. MONS PUBIS – covers the pubic bone. It is where the hair grows.

INTERNAL PARTS OF THE FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN

A. OVARIES – Oval-shaped glands. It produces egg cells. Ovaries are


responsible for the production of hormones such as ESTROGEN AND
PROGESTERONE.

B. FALLOPIAN TUBES – serve as the tunnels for the egg cells to travel
from the ovaries to the uterus.

C. UTERUS – Known as the


“mother’s womb”. It is a hollow
pear-shaped organ where a
fertilized egg grows and
develops.

D. CERVIX - which serves as the


neck portion of the uterus.

E. VAGINA – passageway of the sperm to the female reproductive


system. It is also the passageway of blood during menstruation.
Vagina is also known as “Birth canal”.

Puberty – came from the Latin word ‘PUBERTAS” which means “age of
manhood”

Puberty – is the period of rapid physical maturation involving hormonal and body
changes that takes place in early adolescence

apparatus occurs and reproductive capacity is attained

Menstrual – a word come from the Latin word which means monthly

A. MENSTRUAL PHASE

1. First Phase – Uterus sheds its inner lining, which leaves the body
through the vagina
2. Follicular Phase – also starts on the first day of the period but lasts
until the 13th day. Pituitary glands secretes follicle-stimulating
hormones.
3. Ovulation – the process in which the egg is released and stays in
the fallopian tube for around 24 hours.
4. Luteal Phase – “last phase”. The secretion of the FSH and LH
decreases and the ovary releases estrogen and progesterone.
