Proper Usage of Your Toner Kit and Guidelines for Changing Your Toner
and Cleaning Pad:
This procedure should be followed when your printer displays "CHG TONER U20."
Refer to printer manual wherever possible.

Instructions:
1. Turn the power off. Press the clamshell release button (Fig. 1). The clamshell
will open automatically. Figure 1

2. Remove the cleaning pad, clean the fuser roller by wiping away any visible
toner with a dry cloth, and install the new cleaning pad. Caution: Be careful
around the fuser, since it is hot. Do not clean the fuser with stiff material, or
you may damage the fuser roller (Fig.2).

3. Remove the used toner cartridge carefully to avoid spilling any residual toner.
(Fig. 3).

4. Install the new toner cartridge (Fig. 4). Figure 2

5. Peel the sealing tape (Fig. 5).

6. Pull out the sealing film completely while holding edge of the sealing film and
developer unit with your hands. Caution: Be careful not to spill the toner from
sealing film (Fig. 6).

7. Remove the drum unit and the developer unit (Fig.7). Important: The drum
unit contains a photosensitive drum. Exposing it to light may damage the
drum.
- Do not expose the drum unit to light for more than 5 minutes.
- Do not touch the yellowish-green drum surface. Lift the drum unit by the Figure 3
green-labeled ribs.
- Keep the drum unit away from dust or dirt.
- Do not place the drum unit in a high humidity or high temperature area.

8. Clean the inside of the printer by wiping any visible toner away with a dry cloth.
The following areas should be cleaned.
• Paper transport plate
• Pinch roller
• Transfer roller
• Pick up roller

9. Re-install the developer unit along the front side guide edges. Be sure that Figure 4
the edge of the left side guide shaft sets properly in the edge of the front side
guide edge (Fig. 8).

10. Reinstall the drum unit along the rear side guide edges. Be sure that the edge
of the left side guide shaft sets properly in the edge of the rear side guide edge
(Fig. 9).

11. Close the clamshell (Fig. 10).
