Position Skill Requirements
The following are quarterback skills that must be mastered in order to successfully compete on the pre-varsity (freshman/JV) and varsity levels. To play in this offense, all of the skills must be mastered and performed at a higher level than the other quarterbacks competing for the position. Obviously, the pre-varsity skills must be mastered before the varsity skills can be taught.
Pre-Varsity Skills

Varsity Skills

Execute a 5 step drop from under center. Execute proper hand offs and bootleg/play action fake fundamentals on all varsity run plays. 3 and 5 step, bootleg, play action, and sprint out pass.
6. Execute a run to run check at the line of scrimmage as required by game plan. 7. Execute a color change check at the line of scrimmage.
8. Accurately throw a hitch, slant, flat, fade, chain, corner, out, post, curl,
wheel, flair, angle, drag, and dig from the required action: 3 step, 5 step, sprint out, boot leg, and play action. 9. Demonstrate knowledge of the differences of cover 2 and 3 and man coverage.

1. Demonstrate proper stance, take off, and field spacing alignment.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of where to align by pre-varsity formation.
Varsity Skills

2. Demonstrate knowledge of where to align by varsity formation. 3. Execute required varsity routes. 4. Execute a hitch /fade check at the line of scrimmage. 5. Execute rip/swim/club release techniques. 6. Demonstrate knowledge of the differences of cover 2 and 3 and man coverage. 7. Demonstrate knowledge of the #s rule of clock management during the 2 minute offense.
Pre-Varsity Skills
1. Demonstrate proper stance, alignment, and vertical spacing.
2. Demonstrate a pick and point (45 degree play side) step to the right
and left.
3. Demonstrate an over and up step (lateral)to the right and left. 4. Demonstrate a down (45 degree backside)step to the right and left. 5. Demonstrate a drop, cross, and run (45 degree pull step) to the right
and left.
6. Learn and properly execute required run blocks:
7. Learn and properly execute quick pass protection and turn back pass
Varsity Skills
1. Execute a proper screen scheme. 2. Execute play action and bootleg pass schemes.
3. Execute slide pass blocking scheme (30/40 River/Lake).
2. Demonstrate proper pass catching mechanics. 3. Execute the required tight end routes.
4. Demonstrate where to align by formation. 5. Make 8 double call to wing at appropriate time.
