EEL 3303L-ELECTRONICS I LAB

SPRING 2011

Week 02/14/2011-02/18/2011

SIXTH ACTIVITY: Regions of operation for Bipolar Junction Transistor.

Please do the computer simulations before or after the lab (it’s recommended that you do them
before).

1- Set up the following circuit.

R Vcc
R_ L
B

Vce
_

For RL ≥ 1kΩ and VCC ≥ 10v

Find Rb for the following condition for when VCE = 4v, 5v, and 8v.

In which region does the BJT operate for each corresponding RB? Why?

Briefly explain and comment your results.

2- Using the same circuit as procedure 1.

VCC ≥ 10v and RL = RB

Measure VCE, VBE, VBC

Briefly explain and comment your results.

3- Set up the following circuit.

R Vcc
R_ L
B

Vce
_

Vee

VCC ≥ 4v and |VCC| = 0.5VEE

For RL ≥ 1kΩ, measure VCE, VBE, VBC

for the following conditions:

RB = RL

RB = 1000RL

Briefly explain and comment your results.

4- Set up the following circuit.

R
R_ L
B Vcc

Vce
_

Vee

Repeat procedure 3.

Briefly explain and comment your results.

5- Set up the following circuit.

VCC ≥ 4v

For RL ≥ 1kΩ, measure VCE, VBE, VBC

for the following conditions:

RB = RL

RB = 1000RL

Briefly explain and comment your results.

6- Set up the following circuit.

Measure VCE, VBE, and VBC

Briefly explain and comment your results.

Write a brief summary of today activities. Remember to keep your records and own
comments in your lab notebook.
