Causes
Possible causes
Tests
Possible test steps
► Check "Air mass, air flow model" and "Air flow meter" for plausibility using the MAN-cats menu item
"Engine/Monitoring/Additional values".
► Check air filter insert for damage and check for correct installation
► Check the water discharge valve on the intake duct for blockage
► Check the air intake system (air intake piping) for damage and leaks.
► Check the air compressor line for damage
► Measure the power supply of B323 air flow meter on A435 engine control unit EDC between pin A55 and
A7. Setpoint value: 12 V - 15 V (when engine at standstill)
► Measure the resistance between pin A55 and pin A26 on A435 engine control unit EDC. Setpoint value
1.10 kΩ to 2.60 kΩ
► Measure the resistance between pin A55 and pin A02 on A435 engine control unit EDC. Setpoint value:
>10 MΩ
► Check the electrical cables and plug connectors from A435 EDC control unit to B323 air flow meter for
disconnection, short circuit, contact resistance, change in cross-section, corrosion, correct connection,
splayed plug contacts
Remedy
Possible remedy
Note
Additional information/notes
B323 air flow meter must not come into contact with cleaning agents or other chemicals (e.g. engine starting
aids such as start pilot, etc.). This would result in the sensor drifting or being completely destroyed!
Blowing compressed air through B323 air flow meter is not permitted as this may result in the sensor drifting
or being completely destroyed.
► Take note of the system descriptions "T175 – Electronically controlled diesel injection EDC"
► Observe the relevant vehicle circuit diagrams during inspection

B323 air flow meter must not come into contact with cleaning agents or other chemicals (e.g. engine starting

The bolt connections between the M289 EGR servomotor and shut-off flap must not be undone as this will
alter the calibration. The EGR system on many vehicles is controlled by the electrical M289 EGR servomotor.
The pneumatic EGR system with B673 adjusting cylinder with displacement sensor and Y458 E-EGR
proportional valve is only used in the bus/coach engines D0836LOH and D2066LUH.
