Themes:
 The Power of Nature:
The power of nature is explored in the poem as
something that is supposed to be protected and loved when it is unwittingly involved in conflict.
‘a yellow hare’

 Reality of War:
The poem talks about the horror of war and what it can do to a person.
‘the patriotic tear’

Structure:
 3 stanzas
 No rhyme.
 Enjambment shows the fear of the man. His thought track.
