The best way to capture a moment or send a message
in a single frame is called an image. For a set of
images is called a Photo Exhibition. The researchers
are set to display a Photo Exhibit displaying the
various variables that affect Self-Identity and show
how these can affect us deeper than we let on or see
on the surface. With this, the researchers aim to help
educate and resonate with the audience as they

RATIONALE
immerse themselves within the exhibition that
forming your Self-Identity really does matter
depending on which variable is present in your life the
most, especially for the people in Mindanao.

Forming your Self-Identity takes time; days, months,

years, even a whole lifetime. This exhibition’s purpose
is to help people who are lost find their identity and
help raise awareness that you are who you make
yourself to be.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in
terms of their;
1.1 Age
1.2 Gender
1.3 Year
1.4 Culture/Ethnicity
1.5 Department/Strand

1. What are the factors that affect an individual's Self-identity,

in terms of:
2.1 Environment
2.2 Culture
2.3 Place of Residence
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Support systems, including family and peers, offer a nurturing space for self-exploration and identity evolution,
as stated by Chong, R. C., delos Reyes, E. A., Rivera, P. C., & Hechanova, M. R. (2019).

Based on Haslam, C., Haslam, S. A., Jetten, J., Cruwys, T., & Steffens, N. K. (2021), a person's Identity is fragile.
Constantly changing one's routine, environment, sense of direction affects a person's ability to adapt properly
into something which results in a jumbled outcome.

When an individual negatively perceives themselves, the consistency of their self-concept is tested (Alsaker, F.
D., & Kroger, J. (2020).

Engaging with peers and social groups has also fostered feelings of pride and a sense of belonging, further
confirming their ethnic identity (Teppang, N., Han, M., & Lee, Y. (2019).

As stated by Moreno, M., & Benavides, M. (2019), Factors that include an individual's age, education, and income
level, but are not limited to it are found to influence a person's self-identity formation.
Theoretical Framework
SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY -

THIS THEORY EXPLORES HOW CULTURAL, ETHNIC, AND

SOCIAL GROUPS SHAPE SELF-PERCEPTION AND IN-
GROUP/OUT-GROUP RELATIONS. FURTHERMORE, STRONG
GROUP IDENTIFICATION CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INFLUENCE
BEHAVIOR AND DECISION-MAKING DUE TO THE
PRESSURE TO ALIGN WITH SHARED NORMS AND VALUES.
SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY'S UNDERSTANDING OF GROUP
DYNAMICS HAS HELPED ADDRESS CONFLICT, FOSTER
CHANGE, AND PROMOTE HEALTHY INTERGROUP
RELATIONSHIPS.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Student. This study helps students learn more about themselves, appreciate their culture, and grow as
individuals over time. It also encourages them to think about who they are and what they want to do in the
future.

Parents. They can gain insights from the study to understand and support their child's changing self-identity,
fostering better communication, cultural appreciation, and family closeness. It can also assist in guiding their
children's education and career decisions.

Teacher. This study can help teachers understand their students better and be more sensitive to their different
backgrounds. It allows teachers to customize their teaching to fit each student's needs and can also provide
helpful teaching materials. Additionally, it can be a good topic for teachers to learn and grow in their jobs.

Future researchers. This study benefits future researchers by giving them a starting point with important
information and research methods. It can inspire more studies in the same area and help researchers build on
what's already known.

Society. This study can make our society more understanding of different cultures, accept people's differences,
and help everyone grow personally. It might also lead to better schools and policies that respect and support
everyone.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The study intends to capture a snapshot of self-identity development using a cross-sectional method with
quantitative data, examining individuals across different ages and sociocultural contexts. This design allows
for a wide range of participants and facilitates exploring age-related changes and behavioral aspects within
specific contexts. The chosen research structure and design are crucial for obtaining pure data and ultimately
reaching valid conclusions.
LOCALE
The study is going to be conducted within Philippine
Women's College of Davao, specifically in the Senior High
Department which is located in the FCB Building on the
farthest part of the school from the Main entrances. The
school houses students from the Kindergarten to College
level and offers courses that are mainly in the arts such as
Fashion Design, Interior Design, and Visual Communications
Fine Arts. The school is located in the heart of Davao City, in
one of the city’s busiest districts.
POPULATION
The researchers have chosen 50 Senior High School students from the Philippine
Women's College of Davao as an informed choice, aligning seamlessly with the study's
overarching goal of unraveling the intricacies of self-identity during the transformative
years of adolescence. The combination of age relevance, a diverse sample, contextual
richness, and participant relatability collectively contributes to the robustness and
applicability of the research findings, promising valuable insights into the complex terrain
of self-perception.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
In this study, the researchers will be using a likert scale-based
rubrics as our research instrument to analyze data. The researchers
will be utilizing the likert scale in which assigning numerical values to
each performance level in the designated categories allows for a
quantitative evaluation based on the rubric criteria.
STATISTICAL TOOL
Mean. The mean is a measure of central tendency. It is the average of all the
values in a dataset. In this study, the mean will be use to calculate the average
score for each participant on each of the self-identity measures.

Standard Deviation. The standard deviation is a measure of variability. It tells

us how spread out the values in a dataset are. In this study, the standard
deviation will be use to calculate the variability of the participant's.
