SMART GOAL

I believe in continuous self-improvement and learn something new whenever

possible. I am a good communicator and think Analytically, but I sometimes lack

initiative and do not network with people professionally as much as I should. I've

selected my SMART goal to Increase my professional network by meeting and

making five in-person and 30 New LinkedIn Connections in the Canadian

Healthcare Industry by 31st December 2023. Networking could be a great way to

learn and share professional experience, leading to new career opportunities. (Forbes,

2023) This SMART goal would be relevant not only to this assignment but also to my

career as I near the end of this course and get ready to step into my professional career

in Canada.

RESOURCES AND STRATEGIES

I like TED talks as the content is high quality, engaging and easy to understand. I

will be using the TED talk video "The Power of Meaningful Networking" by Andrew

Griffiths and "LinkedIn: How to Connect Like a Pro" by Jeff Su to improve my

networking skills. These videos talk about how one could become a master networker,

increase the number of opportunities, and use LinkedIn as a powerful networking tool. I

will also attend the upcoming job fairs to network with industry professionals. My

strategy would be to have a genuine and authentic approach. I will connect with people

from my field and alums and create personalized connection requests that explain why I

want to connect and engage with them through commenting on their posts. (Griffiths,

2021; Su, 2021)

MEASUREMENT OF GOAL COMPLETION

I will measure my progress toward the goal by noting the number of LinkedIn

connections and opportunities I had on 20th September 2023 and comparing them with

the statistics of 31st December 2023. I will also log any Job fairs I attend or new

connections that I make in person.
