CASE STUDY ANALYSIS

CASE BACKGROUND / INTRODUCTION:

-Bangalore Electronics Company (BEC), an Indian manufacturer of consumer electronics goods.

-The company started its operations in 1982, it started earning profits only after 2008.

-The changes brought in by the CEO Mr. Ganesh had helped the company to generates profits.

PROBLEM SCENARIO:

-BEC produced outdated products and failed to keep up with the competitors, in terms of price of the
products and new products development.

-The company undertook cost cutting strategy to reduce the cost of production in haste without
analysing its existing operations and processes.

-Efforts were directed only towards reducing the overall costs rather than improving the operational
level activities. They reduced 50 percent of the budget allocations towards R & D.

-Market survey and customer feedback / inputs were not considered in product development
whereas, the marketing promotions were allocated high budgets.

SOLUTION PROPOSAL:

-A detailed study on the existing Processes and operations in the company can help identify the areas
of concern / critical issues to fix.

-An increased focus on latest trends, technologies, and changes in the similar companies can help
understand the drawbacks of the company. A study on the benchmarks developed by other
companies in the same industry can help you know about latest technologies and processes followed
by them to achieve success. Eg., Just -In-Time operations to reduce wastage and focusing on
continuous improvement at operational level.

-Investing in the R & D of the company can enhance the design and develop new features to
products. An industry expert can be considered for product development ideas too.

-Competitor analysis will help the organisation to develop its marketing strategies to differentiate its
products in the market.

CONCLUSION

- As coated in the case, “ Customer centric process stays profitable and constant improvement
in the operations, process and products makes organisations profitable.”
