Course This module will provide core knowledge of the physical processes
Description than govern our oceans. The module will describe and explain: the
distribution of divergent water masses presents in the oceans; the
movement of water by phenomena such as tides, waves, and ocean
currents; and the transfer of energy, momentum and carbon between
the atmosphere and the ocean. The important role that these
phenomena play in both the global climate system and ocean

Course Ocean Remote Sensing is a branch of earth science that studies and
Description examines phenomena that occur on the earth's surface using remote
sensing principles, theories, and technologies, including
Electromagnetic energy, the atmosphere and its interaction with the
earth's surface, remote sensing vehicles and sensors, photographic
remote sensing, non-photographic remote sensing, remote sensing
data processing, image interpretation and its application in the
marine sector. Ocean Remote Sensing provides the ability to
analyze data spatially leading to better understanding of what is
happening in divergent places informing decisions across all sectors
of research, business, government, education, entertainment, and

leisure. This module develops your understanding of GIS by using
spatial data to discover solutions to real world applications. Spatial
data acquired by satellites, and other xying platforms are
increasingly used in decision-making processes about the natural
environment. These ‘remotely sensed’ data are fundamentally
measurements describing the way that electromagnetic radiation
interacts with materials and substances on the Earth’s surface and
scientists can use these to create dynamic maps and build models
describing Earth system processes through space and time. In this
module you will learn about the divergent ways that we can use
remote sensing to monitor the Earth, starting from the ground and
working upwards into space where Earth observation satellites are
in orbit.
