Foundation Day is a time for us to come together and celebrate the origin of our institution. It’s a day to reflect on the journey that has brought us to where is our institutions are today. Last October 17-20, Tarlac State University celebrated its 117th Founding Anniversary and I got to witness some of the events like street dance competition, preliminary competition of Mr. and Ms. TSU, HipHop Dance, Contemporary Dance, and of course the most awaited event of every year’s founding anniversary, the Battle of the Bands. As a second-year student this is my second time joining the foundation day, but I honestly say that I enjoyed much more this year. Joining events like these makes my heart flattered because growing up I always attend foundation week in our school because I am an officer in our school. During the first day of the TSU’s founding anniversary, I was amazed by the students of every campus because of their talents in dancing, creating costumes, and I believed that when you love to do something, you won’t feel tired. As part of the Lucinda Campus students, we were cheering our chant “ARIBA LUCINDA” and I can feel the support from the different college from the Lucinda Campus. Lucinda again won the street dancing competition and I think they gave their best to be the back-to-back champion in this part of event. During the preliminary contest of Mr. and Ms. TSU, I was mesmerized by their national costumes, and they look elegant wearing those pieces of their handlers. I can see to their faces that they are proud representing their respective colleges. In addition, during the first day of the foundation day, it is also the opening of all of the booths of different departments and organizations. They have food booth, photo booth, henna (which I got three henna tattoos), caricature, wedding booth, and many more.
On the second day, I
wouldn’t thought that I will attend because I feel tired but when I think of the people who organized the event, I think they are so tired because of the sleepless nights that they sacrificed to make this event possible, I attended it! And I guess, it’s also my responsibility to attend to support our dancers of hip-hop and contemporary dance. I didn’t attend the third day because my back hurts, but I attended the last day during the battle of the bands to watch the different bands, showcasing their talent on music, pursuing their passion and I must say that I enjoyed it so much! In conclusion, I believed that Foundation Day is a significant occasion in every institution that offers everybody a chance for both collective and individual reflection. It is our day to cherish every moment that the institution built for every student, faculty, and staff. It is for us to reaffirm our commitment to our mission and look forward to a brighter future ahead.
