The following are the enhancements, from most current to oldest, that were done since the

training given in Ottawa (version 9.4):

Version 9.28.1

JudoShiai

• Fixed: Changed wording of “Two pool bronzes” in Tournament Properties to “Two

bronzes for pools (4 & 5)”.
• Fixed: Categories in “Competitors” tab had black text when they should have been in
red. At one tournament, the category was named as “U10M Group 1 “ and was shown
in black text. However, scoreboards would show “0:00” for match time. Match time
should have been “2:00”. The issue was that “U10M Group 1 “ (notice the trailing blank
character) does not match “U10M Group 1”. Code will now show “U10M Group 1 “ in
red text and not black text.
• Fixed: Weight of competitor will no longer be shown in the web page “Coach Display”
due to privacy. (Thanks Jérémy for having pointed this out!)

JudoTimer

• Fixed: Showing “WINNER” instead of “IPPON” for “Modified Fair Play” draws.
• Fixed: Issues with scores and osae-komi clock for “Modified Fair Play” draws.

Version 9.28

JudoShiai

• Fixed: Corrected spelling for “Print Selected Weighin Sheets” to “Print Selected
Weigh-in Sheets”.
• Fixed: In “Properties” of “Category”, changed “Men” and “Women” to “Male” and
“Female”, respectively.
• Fixed: Win codes for Modified Fair Play and Newaza draws will now show “xxx”
instead. Since both draw types have scoring based on points, having “xxx” show
makes more sense.
• Enhancement: Added “Medals by category” for web page statistics generation.
• Enhancement: Added a “Total” count column for medal statistics web pages.
• Enhancement: In the “Matches” tab, whenever there’s a gap in frozen matches, a thick
red line will be displayed between the two matches. For example, if matches are A-21
then A-23, then there is a gap since A-22 is not seen. (Thanks Aline for bringing this
issue to my attention!)

• Enhancement: Category now includes the Modified Fair Play type:

• Enhancement: Same applies to Category→Properties:

JudoTimer

• Fixed: “Golden Score” win is now being awarded when first point scored during
osaekomi.
• Fixed: “Master” changed to “Primary” and “Slave” changed to “Secondary”.
• Enhancement: When osaekomi clock is started and the gi colour is selected, a box with
the colour selected will appear to the right of the selection. (Thanks Christian and
Sandra for bringing this issue to my attention!)
• Enhancement: Modified Fair Play doesn’t have to be checked since JudoShiai is now
sending the Modified Fair Play draw type.

JudoJudogi

• Enhancement: Gi colours are being shown just like in JudoInfo.

Version 9.27.1

JudoShiai
• Fixed English: “Print Winner’s List” to “Print Winners List”.
• Fixed: An abbreviated category name is given to a category that doesn’t exist in the
Category Properties list when imported from a CSV file. In Judo Quebec’s case, an
abbreviated female weight category name was given to a male weight category. The
male weight category should have had a blank abbreviated name since the category
didn’t exist in the Category Properties list yet. (Thanks Marc!)
• Fixed: Some weight categories that are not defined in the Category Properties list
would show black text when it shouldn’t.
• Fixed: Scoreboard went into rest time for current match when Kiken-Gachi was
selected.
• Enhancement: Improved layout of medal sheets.
• Enhancement: “Next fights” web page on central website now has a total match count
at the top. While watching the “Next fights” of the Ontario Open 2022 on Judo
Canada’s website, it only presented the current block of 10 matches on each mat.
However, I didn’t know how many matches are still to be fought on each mat. The new
total match count will decrement as the matches are completed.
• Enhancement: When viewing competitors in the “Competitors” tab, weight/belt/Year of
Birth (DOB) are now colourized:

▪ No colour – right weight/belt/DOB category

▪ Yellow – wrong weight/belt/ DOB category
▪ Light blue – weight/belt/ DOB not entered yet.

In other words, each column will be colourized individually. If only the belt is not valid,
then the belt column will only be colourized.
(Thanks Marc for the idea about colourizing weights! Thanks Ezio for suggesting to add
belt and year of birth!)
• Fixed: “Coach Display” that was showing “@-0” meant that the match has been fought.
Changed to show “FIN” instead of “@-0”.
• Enhancement: Added “Are you sure you want to renumber all matches?” when you’re
selecting “Renumber all matches”.
• Enhancement: Added property “Allow 100gm weight:”. This property will direct DB
validation and competitor colourization not to flag competitors that are within 100 gms
of the maximum weight of the weight category.
• Enhancement: Replaced all occurrences of “Fusen-Gachi” and “Kiken-Gachi” with
“Fusen Gachi” and “Kicken Gachi”, respectively.
• Three-way ties:
◦ Enhancement: Changed pop-up message from “Three-way tie detected!” to “Three-
way tie detected! Tie-breaker draw is Golden Score!”.
◦ Enhancement: You can no longer create a tie-breaker draw from a tie-breaker draw
that again has a three-way tie. However, you can now transfer a three-way tie in a
tie-breaker draw draw to the original draw. Now, you have the option to create yet
another tie-breaker draw or select the “Resolve 3-way ties by time and then
weight:” in “Tournament properties”.
◦ Fixed: When a central website is receiving live data and a Tie-Breaker category is
added, the central website will see the newly created category but clicking on it will
give a “404” error (i.e. file doesn’t exist). This is also true for any newly created
category once updates to the central website has already begun. (Seen at the
Ontario Open 2022).
◦ Fixed: For a three way tie, in a three competitor draw, bronze medal was not
awarded to the third place competitor. However, the competitor had to originally win
a match and thus has to be awarded a bronze medal.
• Enhancement: In the “Log” tab, the “Class” column will now show textual severity of the
message and the “Tatami” column will show the Alpha tatami if “Alpha tatami” is
selected in the “Tournament properties”.
• Enhancement: Added “Print Match Order for Scorekeepers” to “Categories” (Thanks
Christian and Ezio for the suggestion!).

JudoTimer

• Fixed: “Modified Fair Play” selection wouldn’t be saved when JudoTimer exits.
• Fixed: “Modified Fair Play” clock would stop on 10 seconds when in Newaza.
• Fixed: Timer didn’t stop when wazari-awaseti-ippon or ippon scored during osaekomi.
• Enhancement: One can have the scoreboard do Newaza scoring when JudoTimer is
not communicating with JudoShiai. A new preference was added → Newaza. (Thanks
Doug!)
• Enhancement: Changed “Yusei Gachi: blue wins” to “Yusei Gachi: blue wins by
decision” and changed “Yusei Gachi: white wins” to “Yusei Gachi: white wins by
decision”.
• Enhancement: Replaced all occurrences of “Fusen-Gachi” and “Kiken-Gachi” with
“Fusen Gachi” and “Kicken Gachi”, respectively.
• Enhancement: Added “Both no show” as a selection. In the event that one competitor
is withdrawn due to injury and the other doesn’t show up on the mat, “Both no show”
needs to be selected. On the draw sheet, the win code will appear as “---”.
• Enhancement: Rest time will not be shown when one of the competitors has been
withdrawn due to injury or has a direct hansoku-make.

Version 9.26.1

JudoShiai

• Fixed: Three-way tie wasn't being handled for 5 athlete pool.

• Modified: Modified Fair Play now supports new rule of 2 Ippons/4 Waza-aris.

Version 9.26

JudoShiai

• Fixed: When importing registered athletes, “Add From a Text File”, and UTF-8 is
selected; JudoShiai can crash if non-ASCII and non-UTF-8 characters are being
processed as UTF-8 characters. Normally, UTF-8 characters are used to show
Chinese or Arabic text. French accents also can use UTF-8. If you know for sure that
the file that you are importing was generated with the UTF-8 character set, then you
can select the UTF-8 check box; otherwise, DON'T.
• Fixed: Now you can select a different PDF file name for “Printing Winner's List”.
• Fixed: An athlete who gets a direct hansoku-make in pool B of a double pool will now
show 0 as a score.
• Fixed: Newaza scores (i.e. 20, 18, etc.) can be selected in the “Points” column of the
“Tatami” tab.
• Fixed: “accreditation-card-Canada.txt”. Name and club were being overwritten.
• Fixed: In “Next fights” and “Coach Display”, athletes that are withdrawn or got a direct
hansoku-make are now shown as scratched.
• Added number of athletes next to weight category in the “Print Registered Athletes
(Web)” web pages.
• In the “Competitor” pop-up box the “Injured:” and “Withdrawn:” selection boxes is now
collapsed down to one one “Injured/Withdrawn:” selection box.
• In the generated web page results, in “Statistics”, added “Total time” and “Average
time” calculations. Total and average times indicate the total and average times of
matches.
• Double hansoku-make handling has been completed for two person draws. Double
hansoku-make handling has not been completed for three and above person draws.
• Athletes that are withdrawn are no longer scratched on draw sheets. The only athletes
that should be scratched on draw sheets are those that got a direct hansoku-make.
• Added “One Per File” when generating accreditation cards in PDF format. This way, we
can e-mail each athlete their accreditation cards. Filename will have
“jassocid_last_first.pdf”. Where jassocid is the Judo Association ID (e.g. Judo Canada
number), last is last name and first is first name (e.g. Athlete's name is Judo Love and
has Judo Canada number 12345, “12345_Love_Judo.pdf”).
• Added accreditation-card-Canada-2.txt. More details added to the accreditation card.
(Thanks Marc!).
• Added new tournament property that will allow to update the weight of a Judoka that is
multiple categories within the same tournament database.
• Upgraded SQL database engine from version 3.29.0 to 3.38.2.

JudoInfo

• If a match went with no winners, then “No winners” will be shown in the top box that
usually shows who the last winner was.

JudoTimer

• In the event that two scratched athletes appear on the scoreboard, you can commit the
result by entering 0 or the time duration of the next match.

Version 9.25

JudoShiai

• Added match duration to exported data for judo Canada.

Version 9.24

JudoShiai
• Fixed French translations. Thanks Christian!
• Upgraded SQL database engine from version 3.20.1 to 3.29.0.
• Fixed issue were an athlete who gets a direct hansoku-make in a pool will now show 0
as a score.
• Fixed an incorrect medal count when pool with two bronzes is selected.
• Fixed: When creating categories with “Create Categories”, for categories not found in
the categories property list, the short category name would get the short category
name of the first female entry in the category properties. Thanks Marc for finding this!
• Fixed: Multi-page Winner's list will now print all pages when printer is selected. Thanks
Marc for finding this!
• Fixed: Category name at top of drawsheets would sometimes not appear when logos
are added to the top. Thanks Ezio for finding this!
• Fixed: In the “Sheets” tab, withdrawn athletes will be shown with their name with a line
through (i.e. scratched out).
• Fixed: When moving matches to mats, the short category name will no longer be
blanked out.
• Added the capability to show placement of all athletes on the web pages.
• Added the capability to renumber frozen matches if the first match on the mat has a
value of one. Right click on any match in the “Matches” tab and you'll see a new
selection “Renumber all matches”. Renumbering will only be performed on the selected
mat.
• Added “Export Data (CSV)” to “Results”. Moved the “For Judo Canada” from “Print
matches (CSV)” to “Export Data (CSV)”.
• Added “Add All From Another Shiai” to the “Tournament” menu selection. This selection
will add all competitors, categories, and matches from the selected tournament
database.
• Three-way ties:
◦ Added a pop-up message box to indicate that a three-way tie has been detected.
This is useful when you're not looking at the competitors tab.
◦ In the “Competitors” tab, right-clicking on a draw that has a three-way tie will now
have a new selection, “Create Tie-breaker Draw”. This will create a tie-breaker draw
with the three athletes.
◦ In the “Competitors” tab, right-clicking on a completed tie-breaker draw will now
have a new selection, “Transfer Tie-breaker Results”. This will transfer the results to
the three-way tie draw.
◦ If a tie-breaker draw has a three-way tie, you can create yet another tie-breaker
draw on the tie-breaker draw. If the tie-breaker of the tie-breaker draw completes
without a three-way tie, then transferring the tie-breaker results will transfer the
results to the original three-way tie draw.
◦ I'll send a separate detailed document explaining usage of these new features.
• Corrected properties selection when “Canadian System” is selected in “Tournament
Properties”.
• Changed “Hansoku-make” in the “Competitor” pop-up box to “Direct hansoku-make”.
• The American system also follows the IJF rules that an athlete who commits a direct
hansoku-make is removed from the draw and loses all points. Thanks Alan for looking
into this!
• Fixes applied as a result of the Ontario Open 2019:
◦ Match #12 would not appear on 32 and 64 athlete draw sheets.
◦ Match #28 would not appear on 64 athlete draw sheets.
◦ Database validation would show athletes weights out of range when in fact they
weren't.
◦ Newaza pool draws wasn't handling scores properly. Three-way tie shown when it
shouldn't have.

JudoTimer

• Fixed issue were a score wouldn't be committed for Fusen Gachi and Kicken Gachi in
a newaza draw. Thanks Marc for finding this!
• Fixes applied as a result of the Ontario Open 2019:
◦ Scoreboard would show rest time for a match with a scratched athlete.

Version 9.23

JudoShiai

• Fixed an issue where the results web page had the wrong athletes for the medals.
Thus, affecting medal counts. Thanks Alan for finding this!
• Fixed an issue where moving matches in the Matches tab wouldn't give the correct
frozen match number. Same is true for “Freeze to first available position”.
• Fixed an issue in the Matches tab where once a mat has had a completed match (e.g.
match A-1 is gone) and you have to redraw a different draw on the mat, “Freeze to first
available position” will not pick A-1.
• Fixed an issue where a three athlete category is being shown as complete after two
matches have been completed.
• Fixed an issue where athletes in a three way tie in a double pool where not highlighted
in red.
• Fixed an issue where scoreboards didn't change to 2018 rules if scoreboard is opened
first and JudoShiai after.
• Corrected the output “For Judo Canada” in “Categories->Print Matches (CSV)”.
• In the “Initialize” box in “Tournament Properties”, if the Canadian flag is selected and
“Canadian System” is applied (i.e. pressing the Apply button), the belts will be filled in
with the English only belt names. If the Quebec flag is selected, then the belts will be
filled in with the French only belt names. If neither the Canadian nor Quebec flag is
selected, then the belts will have the “kyu” names. For the “American System”, the
American flag must be selected to get the English belt names, otherwise the belts will
have the “kyu” names.
• Removed “Print completed medal sheets” and “Run tournament manually” from the
“Tournament properties”.
• Removed “Print all non-finished contest sheets” and “Print all contest sheets” from
“Competitors”.
• Added win code to the repechage draws.
• When an athlete gets a direct hansoku-make:
◦ In the generated web page results, in the “Competitors” list, points and code will
now show 0. Scoreboard results will be kept to show that the athlete did win
matches but scores got scratched due to the direct hansoku-make.
◦ Drawsheets will show a score of 0 and no win code.
◦ Medal sheet won’t show an athlete where the athlete would have appeared. Same
applies in the “Print Winner’s List”.
• When an athlete is withdrawn:
◦ The athlete will not automatically give their opponents a win.
◦ In the “Matches” tab, the athlete’s matches will be shown with their name with a line
through (i.e. scratched out). Thus, all the opponents of the withdrawn athlete will
have to show up on the mat to be awarded a fusen-gachi win by the scoreboard.
• Long names will no longer overwrite other text on the weigh-in, medal, and medal
summary sheets.
• Finding matches that are too close to each other wasn’t working some of the time.
• Scrolling in the “Matches” tab was excessively slow.
• Category names with a maximum length would cause the web page results link not to
work.
• Draws with three-way ties:
◦ Athletes will have their names highlighted in red on the drawsheet.
◦ Athletes will show the correct medal after their names in the “Competitors” tab if the
three-way tie is not resolved. In other words, a [3] will appear after each
competitors name if they are tied for bronze.
◦ Same applies for the single medal sheets. In other words, each competitor will be
shown to have won bronze if they’re tied for bronze.
• Added “Newaza” handling:
◦ Added a “Newaza:” check box in “Properties” of “Categories”.
◦ When you double-click on a category in the “Competitors” tab or try to create a new
category, you’ll see a “Newaza:” check box.
◦ When a category has the “Newaza:” check box selected, the scoreboard will have
unlimited “Waza-ari”s. I’ll be working on a better scoreboard for newaza for a later
version of JudoShiai.
• Added folder, CanadianDraws2, to Preferences->Sheet Layout->SVG Templates. The
drawsheets in CanadianDraws2 are identical to those found in CanadianDraws with a
slight difference. For draws with eight or more competitors, the repechage portion of
the draw doesn't show the match number from where the competitor came from
outside the match box but instead inside of the match box. The match number is drawn
in yellow and is light enough on a printout to write over (as illustrated below). Once a
competitor is written into the match box, the match number is removed.

• Added “Short Age Text:” to Categories->Properties. Also added “Short category” to the
“Category” pop-up box when you double-click on a category in the Competitors tab. If
this field is filled, then this text will be used when displaying a category on the
scoreboard. If this field is not filled, then the long name is used. For example, if the
category name is “Senior Advanced Men -90kg”, then it would appear as “Senior
Advanced Men -” on the scoreboard. Not good! If you fill in the short name as
“SrAdvM -90kg”, then the short name will be used on the scoreboard.

JudoTimer

• 2018 rule. Stop waza-ari count once two is achieved (i.e. waza-ari awasete ippon).
• An athlete that is withdrawn will have their name shown with a line through (i.e.
scratched out).
• Fixed: Athlete selection will flash when newaza starts and athlete not selected.

JudoInfo

• An athlete that is withdrawn will have their name shown with a line through (i.e.
scratched out).

JudoGi

• An athlete that is withdrawn will have their name shown with a line through (i.e.
scratched out).

Version 9.22

JudoShiai

• Fixed - Medal sheets were showing 5 th place winners instead of bronze winners.
• I removed the following that was introduced in 9.16:

When a competitor is withdrawn due to injury via JudoShiai, all future matches that the
athlete would have fought would automatically get Kiken-Gachi for the non-injured
athlete. Do not withdraw the athlete if the chief referee wants the non-injured athletes
to appear on the mat to be awarded Kiken-Gachi by the referee.

Version 9.21

JudoShiai

• Added 2018 Rules.

• Resolving three-way ties in pool draws wasn’t selecting the correct winners.
• Resolving three-way ties in “Tournament Properties” was not showing that time is being
considered first. Note: When changing “Resolve 3-way ties by time and then weight:”,
you need to re-open the tournament database for the selection to take effect. Ensure
that this selection is determined with the tournament director before the tournament
starts.
• “Validate Database” didn’t handle categories that had different belt ranges for the same
age to well. For example, “U14 Male -34kg” and “U14 Male YO -34kg” (i.e. first one is
for green belts and above while the second is for Yellow/Orange). Side effect was that
all athletes in one category would be flagged as not being in the right weight category
when indeed they were in the right weight category.
• When the gold medal match in a repechage draw had one athlete awarded with a
“Direct Hansoku-make”, then all the other medalists wouldn’t be displayed.
• Alphabet Index on results web pages was not working when “Surname Name,
Country/Prov/Club” was selected in “Name Format” in “Preferences”. Thanks Brian for
finding this!

JudoTimer
• Added 2018 Rules.
• Fixed really old code that was crashing JudoTimer. Fix was also applied to 9.20 version
of JudoTimer.
• Added seven new sound files (buzzer-a.mp3 to buzzer-g.mp3). Thanks Kelly!

Version 9.20

JudoShiai

• Upgraded SQL database engine from version 3.10.2 to 3.20.1.

• Moved “Print Registered Athletes (Web)” from “Results” to “Competitors”.
• North American paper is “letter” and not “legal”. Changed text in tournament properties.
• Added American draw system to tournament properties.
• Increased category name to 30 in “Properties” of “Categories”.
• I enhanced “Update Weights From Another Shiai” to work for Canada and USA.

If you're running a two day event and have a tournament database for the two
days and you have athletes competing on both days, then this option will help
you. When you select this option, you will be presented with a dialog to provide
the tournament database that has the entered weights. The way the weights are
transferred from one database to another is that the athlete's last name, first
name, club, and birth year must match. Thus, if you need to modify any of the
four data items, you must do the modifications in both tournament database
files; otherwise, the athlete's weight won't be transferred.

• Fixed freezing of a match to first match gave tatami-0A (e.g. B-0A). Now, it will be
tatami-1 (e.g. B-1). Freezing a match before match tatami-1 (e.g. B-1) will not be
allowed. Before, you would get tatami-0A (e.g. B-0A).
• Truncating long club names in weigh-in sheets so not to write over “kg” column.
• For Canadian English, Country now shows as Country/Prov.
• Fixed weight range on weigh-in sheets for Canadian English.
• Corrected score column in “Print Matches (CSV)”.
• Added “Freeze to first available position” when you right click on a match in the
“Matches” tab.

At the Ontario Open 2017, I had to redraw a large draw once all matches had
been frozen and it happened to be the anchored draw. In other words, the draw
had it's first match as A-1. I had to undraw the draw, make the required
modifications, and then redraw. I then had to move the matches one-by-one to
unused match numbers. That took a lot of time!! Being under pressure also
wasn't helping matters. So, I added this feature so that the match can be moved
to the first unused match number. Thus, moving the first match of the fixed draw
to A-1 is now two clicks away. If the next unused match number is A-10, then the
match number will be moved to A-10, etc.

• Added “For Judo Canada” check box in the “Print Matches (CSV)” pop-up. This will
generate a CSV file of all completed matches that will be used by Judo Canada
application.
Version 9.19

JudoShiai

• Exporting each single match after a tournament has completed is now working
(Categories->Print Matches (CSV), then select “Print Finished Categories”, “Print
Result”, and “Print “IWS”).
• Added the capability to import a judo membership list (Competitors->Add membership
from a text file). Functionality is similar to that when importing athletes into JudoShiai.
• Added verification of athletes not registered in the membership list in “Validate
Database”. Membership list can come from Judo Canada or the provincial association.
Validation is done by finding the athletes' “Judo Assoc. Id” in the membership
database. If not found, athlete is flagged as not being a member.
• Added Canadian, Quebec, and American flags. This was done to add strings like
“Country/Prov” instead of “Country”, “Judo Assoc. Id:” instead of “Id:”. Americans will
see “Country/State” instead of “Country”.
• Added “Canadian true double elimination” draw type.
• Added weight range to weigh-in sheets. Weight range is taken from the category
properties.

Version 9.18

JudoTimer

• Replaced Country with Country/Prov in “Name format” in “Preferences” selection.

• When JudoTimer was running without connecting to JudoShiai, it would have blue first
instead of white. Removed “White first”. Thanks Christian for finding this!

JudoShiai

• Removed “White first” from tournament properties.

• Replaced Country with Country/Prov.
• List categories in order by category name.
• Added medal statistics by country/province in web page results generation.
• Added “No country/prov:” to “Validate Database” to find athletes that don't have the
“Country/Prov” field filled in.
• When adding or removing competitors to/from a draw, the draw type will be adjusted
accordingly. Before, we would get “Finish Double Repechage” or the wrong pool type
when we added or deleted an athlete.

Version 9.17

JudoTimer

• JudoTimer will now default to 2017 rules when not connected to JudoShiai.
• Fixed issue where shido score not acknowledged as a win in Golden Score. Thanks
Ivy for finding this!
• Changed preference “Stop clock on Ippon” to “Stop clock on Ippon and win in Golden
Score”. Thanks Brian for finding this!
• Fixed flickering between 2017 and pre-2017 appearance.
• Fixed issue where undoing shido scores for leg grab shidos would cause Ippon score
to go to -1. Difficult to undo when timekeeper is under pressure.
• “Modified Fair Play” now works again.
• Added a preference to change the direction in which time is adjusted when mouse
wheel is used.
• Win by decision is “Yusei Gachi” and not Yusen Gachi.
• Having more than one JudoTimer running would mess up the “Leg Grab” portion of the
scoreboard. Thanks Ezio for finding this one!
• Show “Golden Score” when time runs out in regular time instead of “SOREMADE”.
Thanks Ezio for finding this one!
• Can use mouse wheel to adjust match or osaekomi time.
• Added a preference (“Change mouse wheel scrolling direction”) to change the direction
in which time is adjusted when mouse wheel is used.
• Under 2017 rules, when time runs out and shido is the only score on the board, Golden
Score request will be presented to the time keeper.
• Scoreboard can now be changed back and forth between 2017 rules display and pre-
2017 display.
• Removed SONOMAMA. Stopping match time will stop osaekomi time. Starting match
time will start osaekomi time too.
• Added a preference to enable or disable the displaying of big text at end of match like
"IPPON" etc.

JudoShiai

• Corrected statistics for web pages.

• Corrected match view to show “HAN” for a two “Leg Grab” shido instead of “IPO”.
Thanks Marc for finding this.
• During “Validate Database”, show belt text (“Green”) instead of a number (11) when
suspicious belts are found.
• Added missing “0” value for drop down list for points in the Tatami tab.
• For 2 athlete pool, Gi colour will be alternated between matches.
• In the "Tatami" tab, the "Points" column now has "10 5 1" available for Ippon (10),
Wazari(5), and win by lesser score(1). Thanks Lynne for finding this one!
• Upon creating a new tournament database, the “2017 Rules” will be automatically
selected. Thus, the category details will be set to 2017 rules (i.e. pin times and match
duration).
• To use pre-2017 categories, click on “Properties” in the “Tournament” menu selection,
unclick the “2017 Rules”, click on “OK”. Click on “Properties” in the “Categories” menu
selection. Click on “Reset to Defaults”. Now, you’re pin times and match time durations
will revert back to pre-2017 rules. Reopen the tournament database (I’ll have to fix this
in a future release so that you don’t have to reopen the tournament database). To set
the categories back to 2017, follow the same steps except click on “2017 Rules” in the
“Properties” in the “Tournament” menu selection.
• For future matches that don't have a name yet are now being considered for the
"matches that are to close" verification.
• "Print Registered Athletes" was crashing when a category had no athletes.
• For the "Print Registered Athletes" generated web pages, a single character in the list
of characters (i.e. A B C etc) will not be shown if a name or club doesn't start with the
character. For example, if a club name doesn't start with "G", then there will be no G at
the top.

Version 9.16

JudoShiai

• 8 athlete draw can now be used with less than 8 athletes.

• Fixed handling of injured and withdrawn athletes (e.g. Category showed not completed
when they were.)
• In competitor detail pop-up, you can now pick only one of (Hansoku-make, Injured, and
Withdrawn).
• Gold medal match number in "Cdn Mod Elim True Bronze" now shows correct number
on drawsheets.
• Lower age in category is now being used when creating categories after an import.
• Blank lowest and highest belts in categories are now being handled correctly.
• Added some missing French translations.
• Column to import will now be blanked out when changing it to "Not used".
• Last two names of weigh-in sheets are now in alphabetical order.

Enhancements in this version are:

JudoShiai

• Added web page generation for registered athletes. This is identical to that of the result
web page generation; however, a list of names is given instead of the draw for the
weight category. These web pages are to be generated for preregistration tournaments
so that athletes can check if they’re registered correctly.
• Added "A B C ..." to the top of web pages. On the competitors and clubs web pages,
these pages can be lengthy. I added links at the top so that one can navigate right
away to the first entry that starts with the selected letter. For example, if I want to find
“Horvath” in the list of competitors, I would click on “H” and it will bring me to the first
athlete who’s last name starts with “H”.
• "Next Fights" selection from web page now shows match numbers as seen on draws
(e.g. A-23).
• "Coach" selection from web page now shows match numbers as seen on draws for the
coach's athletes (e.g. A-23).
• Added summary medalist list. Select “Print Winner’s List” in the “Results” tab.
• Added the capability to have more than one sub-match. For example, 23-A, 23-B, 23-
C, etc. (Courtsey of Troy).
• Added 3-way tie resolution by time and then weight. This option is activated by
checking the “Resolve 3-way ties by time then weight:” in the “Tournament Properties”.
• Added checking for misbalanced draws for the 8 competitor and more draws in
"Validate Database". For example, in a 16 athlete draw, if 10 athletes appear in the top
half of the draw, it will be flagged as being misbalanced. This computation is also
applied for each smaller block within the draw. For example, each block of four in the
16 athlete draw.
• When a competitor is withdrawn due to injury via JudoShiai, all future matches that the
athlete would have fought would automatically get Kiken-Gachi for the non-injured
athlete. Do not withdraw the athlete if the chief referee wants the non-injured athletes
to appear on the mat to be awarded Kiken-Gachi by the referee.
• Added checking for athletes that are in obvious different weight categories in "Validate
Database" by highlighting in red. For example, athlete is registered in U18 Men -55kg
and Senior Men -60kg, the two entries will be highlighted in red. For athletes in same
weight will not be highlighted in red. For example, U18 Men -55kg and Senior Men -
55kg.
Version 9.15

JudoShiai

• 16 competitor draw with 3 seeded athletes may cause the draw to have too many
athletes on one side.

Enhancements in this version are:

JudoShiai

• “Validate Database” will now show if too many competitors from the same club or
country are on one side of a 6 and 7 competitor pool.

Version 9.14

JudoShiai

• Two person pool has matches very close together to each other and thus causing wait
times.

the athlete is in the database more than one time. This occurred when all athletes are
deleted and then an import is performed.

category. Workaround for previous versions was to create category "U14 Group" and
