HOLIDAYS ASSIGNMENT CLASS – VI

Dear Students

To maintain the educational continuum and to keep in view the rejuvenation you need, an
enriching homework for the holidays is designed to keep you constructively busy and put
boredom at bay. Continue to read e-newspaper every day and don't forget to complete your
notebooks and assignment of the syllabus covered in the classes from October to December.

There is a lot more you can do to make your vacations more interesting, meaningful and full of
fun; along with doing all your heart desires.

Few guidelines for your parents to make your Winter break fruitful-

1. “Knowledge is Power”. Therefore encourage your child to cultivate the reading habit
because it not only enhances the knowledge acquired but also develops the vocabulary,
language skills and improves spellings. And also read to your child because it builds reading
skills and increases his/her attention span.

2. “A healthy mind lives in a healthy body”. Encourage your child to go out and play because
sports instill discipline, generate sporting spirits, channelize energies constructively.

3. Communication skills play a pivotal role in grooming the overall personality of the children.
Converse with your child preferably in English to help him / her get comfortable with the
language.

4. Spend quality time with your child engaging him / her in activities based on enhancing his /
her powers of observation and imagination.

5. Encourage your child to play indoor games e.g. Chess, Ludo, Carrom,etc.

6. Sensitize your child about the rich culture and heritage by watching different informative
channels like ‘The National Geographic’, Animal Planet etc.

7. Encourage your child to do the activities himself / herself and appoint a specific time to do
homework every day.

General Instructions for the Holiday Homework:
1) Neatness and presentation are common parameters for most of the work assigned.
Try to maintain the quality of work done.
2) The child will be assessed for the handwriting, presentation, neatness, completion of all
the given questions, indexing of the work.
3) Enrich your vocabulary for learning the vocabulary words from Hindi and English
textual books.
4) Written Homework/ projects/Activities of all the subjects:- English, Science,
Mathematics and Computer is to be done in the subject notebooks.
5) Subject teachers have further imparted specific instructions for their subjects. Before
attempting the questions, you must read them thoroughly.
6) Make sure that all syllabus done till December month must be revised thoroughly
during vacations as it will help you to retain and adjust after the break.
Note: Holiday’s homework carries marks; hence submission of work is mandatory as per the
schedule provided to you all soon.

CLASS-VI
SUBJECT: ENGLISH
English is the language of international communication, the media and the internet, so learning English is
important for socialising and entertainment as well as work!
Q.1 Write three forms of any 30 verbs on a chart paper in a beautiful manner.
Q.2 Make a working model on continuous tense (present Past and Future).
Q.3 Write an informal letter to your father requesting him to increase your pocket money.
Q.4 Notice Writing:-You are Secretary of the History Club of KC International School. Draft a notice in not
more than 50 words informing students of a proposed visit to some important historical sites of Gujarat
state.
SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS
Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit. Without
mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. It’s not about
numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms; it is about understanding. Math helps us think
analytically and have better reasoning abilities. The only way to learn mathematics is to do
mathematics.
Q.1 On a colored A4 size sheet,
Draw a triangle with a horizontal line of symmetry but no vertical line of symmetry.
(b) Draw a quadrilateral with both vertical and horizontal lines of symmetry.
(c) Draw a hexagon with 6 lines of symmetry.

Q2. Saturn and Jupiter takes 9 hours 56 minutes and 10 hours 40 minutes respectively for one spin on
their axis .Find the ratio of the time taken by Saturn and Jupiter in the lowest form.

Q3. VALUE BASED QUESTION,


Manvi and vidisha are neighbours and study in class 6 in same school, but do not go to school together.
Manvi walks to school and reaches school in one hour and time taken by vidisha to reach school is 20
minutes as she cycles to school.
(1) Express the time taken by the two as a ratio in simplest form.
(2) What values are two promoting?

SUBJECT: SCIENCE
“Science is nothing, but organized common sense.”
It is Systematic, Comprehensive, Investigation and Exploration of Nature’s Causes and Effect.
Q.1 Make a model of Pin hole camera.
Material required: Two card board roles, black sheet, butter paper and a candle.
Q2. Application Based question:
Take a rod .Fix it at a place where sunlight falls on it directly. Record the shadow of the stick from
morning till evening at regular intervals of one hour.
From the recorded observation table answer the following:
* When is the shadow : i) largest in size. ii) smallest in size?
* Can you observe any moment of the day when no shadow is casted ?
* Can you observe the same phenomenon if, instead of sunlight, we place the stick in a room lighted with
a bulb?
* Does the colour of shadow change if we replace the given stick with the one of a different colour ?
Q3. Make a list of unusual vehicles and collect pictures and write a line or two about each. Present this in
the form of chart. Here is a sample list.
* Escalators
* Maglev train
*Snow mobile
You have to add more in this list.
Q 4 Take a comb in your right hand and bring it to your hair and look at yourself in mirror. You can see
your own face in the mirror. This is your mirror image.

Computer Science is the study of Computers and Computational systems. It is a broad field which
includes everything from the algorithms that make up software to how software interacts with hardware
to how well software is developed and designed.
Q.1. Write and explain any 10 HTML tags on A4 Sheet and paste it on your notebook
Q2. Explain fields of AI.
Q3. Write a program in python to find the area and circumference of circle.
Q4.Paste images of three famous search engines and three famous browsers on A4 size sheet

Project on Art Integration

 Students have to make Art Integrated Project on the State Gujarat.
 This activity has to be done in groups which are already made by the class teachers.
 PPT’s and Files are required for its presentation.
 Students have to submit this project immediately after the winter holidays.
