A. Overview
1. Definition of happiness
- Quote : “Money can buy anything except happiness.”
- Happiness is a feeling of contentment, joy, and fulfillment + being satisfied with life, in a
good mood, feeling positive emotions, feeling enjoyment
- Happiness is something that people seek to find (Every people has a different look)
- Happiness isn’t something you find. It’s something you create (Everyone can find their own
ways to be happy) :
+ Some people find happiness in material possessions or achievements, while others find it in
experiences or moments of connection with loved ones.
2. Importance of understanding happiness/Why is it important to be happy?
- Being in a state of happiness helps us to be more optimistic. Whoever wants to be drowning
in thousands of pessimistic/negative thoughts?
- Happiness may be linked to heart health due to its stress-reducing effects. Stress can
lead to heart disease and other health problems, as it causes the release of cortisol and
increases heart rate and blood pressure. On the other hand, feeling happy can relax the
body, leading to decreased heart rate and blood pressure.
- Happiness can lead to a healthier lifestyle, with studies showing that happy people are
more likely to exercise regularly and eat healthily. This could be because happy
people tend to have more self-control and motivation to care for their health.

C. Ways to promote happiness

3. Pursuit of personal goals and passion

- Goals vs. Passion
+ Goals : The thing that you “need/must” (to) reach
+ Passion : Your own dreams, your own hobby. You like it and want to follow it
- But once people reach their goals/passion, they will feel like on top of the
world
- When we engage in activities that we truly enjoy and feel passionate about, we
often experience a sense of fulfillment and purpose. This can lead to increased
happiness and a more positive outlook on life
+ Example : Bill Gates was born into a well-off family in the United States. Since
childhood, he was fascinated with mathematics and with the most primitive
computer models, sparking a clear interest, interests that later made his name
shine. He once passed the law school at Harvard University, but with a passion
for computers, he quit school and together with a friend opened a Microsoft
company when he was 20 years old.

5. Building and maintaining meaningful relationships

- Although we are taught to avoid strangers, sometimes strangers can become

meaningful relationships. Relationships involve emotional or physical intimacy
between two or more people, regardless of whether they are family, friends, or
professional connections.
- Relationships are like a comfy blanket that wraps us up in warmth and purpose,
connecting us to others on a deeper level. Lasting relationships provide a sense
of belonging and purpose, leading to deeper connection and improved mood,
self-worth, and support.
