Personal statement

Personally, I have chosen your film production course because I feel like this would personally help me
and prepare me for my career and open many windows towards any jobs, I find interesting. For the past
few years, I have taken a high interest in film production, but I have a particular interest towards the
practical side of film production. Your course would provide me with all the greater opportunities that I
would need to have to go into the film production field. This would allow me to grasp onto significant
knowledge that would help me progress further in this chosen career path. When I came to an open day
at your university, I had been shown around the campus and I saw the various equipment and rooms
that I would be using and I had noticed that all of the stunning equipment would benefit me more than I
had expected and I am very excited to use them for all the projects and expand my knowledge on this
equipment.

I have been at the Bournemouth and Poole college for 3 years now and I have done both UAL Level 2
Diploma in Media and UAL Level 3 extended Diploma in Creative Media, both courses have shown me
how to do various amounts of projects ranging from making a short film to making a whole website
promoting a fizzy drink. I can say while doing all these projects, it has opened my eyes to how much
effort goes into all these projects, and I can say that it is not easy as I thought. One project I had to do
this year on level 3 was to make a 10-minute-long documentary on a certain topic I had picked, how
music videos are produced. I went off and explored how many music videos were made but also the
history of the production that goes behind them. This helped me improve on my software skills, I used
premier pro for this task, and it helped me understand more about how the software actually works.
Before joining this college, my written skills have also improved a lot as well, this ranges from
conducting primary and secondary research. Now I can conduct my own research and put out surveys
and have people fill them in and send them back to me which will help me with my projects.
