Literacy Writing

We will be reading books that go along with our
theme and focus on the essential questions:
How can I relate to the character in a book?
In our leveled literacy centers we are reading
books at our academic level with a focus of 1:1
word correspondence and asking questions
while we read.
Sight Words: play (we, am, you, at, was, it,
can, see, is, to, I, like, the, my, us, will)
With assistance, students will write the
beginning sounds they hear in a word. We are
doing many activities sounding out CVC words.
Cat, hat, dog, bed, kid, cut are examples of
consonant, vowel, consonant words.
We will continue our opinion writing unit.
Students will learn to use a tool to help keep
track of their opinions using and I like Map.
This help them keep track of what they might
like to right an opinion paper about.

In phonics we will be working on CVC words.

We will be going over vowels and consents.

Math Theme-Gingerbread Man

We will start comparing lengths using shorter

than and taller than.
We will continue counting collections to
continue to help build our number sense.
Looking at Gingerbread Man stories we will look
at the characters actions and thoughts. We will
also look for similarities and differences in
characters, setting and plot.

Suggested homework: Make sure your child can read this unit’s sight words: will, us (we, am, you, at,
was, it, can, see, is, to, I, like, the, my)
