Task 1: The diagram below shows the plan of a medical centre in 2008 and

2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features

and making comparisons where relevant.

The diagram illustrates the development of a medical centre in 2010 compared to 2008.
Overall, the hospital underwent remarkable changes, the most important of which is the
addition of five new rooms used for different purposes.

From the diagram,it is clear that there used to be three doctor's offices occured in the north
side of this center, which were divided into four rooms after 2 years.Additionally,a new store
room was build in the top right-hand corner of the medical center.Throughout the
period, the opposite side of the building remained unchanged.

In the area to the south of the treatment room, a new education room and mother and child
room had been developed. The waiting room, which could be accessed from the main
entrance, remained unchanged in size and position. The laboratory located in the southeast
of the hospital remained unchanged, whereas a pharmacy was added right next to the lab in
2010.

Task 2: The increase in the production of consumer goods results in damage

to the natural environment. What is the cause of this? What can be done to

solve this problem?

Nowadays, as more consumer goods are manufactured, more damage has been
inflicted to the environment. I will outline several reasons for this as well as some
solutions which can be adopted to mitigate negative consequences.
To begin with, the increase in producing necessities can harm environment in two
ways: the pollutants emmited from the manufacturing process and the overutilization
of natural resources.Since the world’s need is rising, companies are ramping up their
production capacity to satisfy it.As a result, tons of greenhouse gases, along with
chemicals are released into the environment without any toxic treatment. Water
sources are contaminated, and the air is severely polluted, which results in the
deaths of many marine and terrestrial animals. Moreover, some products might
require huge amount of materials to make,so the increase in the demand for goods
can lead to overexploitation. For example,in order to make enough papers to satisfy
people’s need,a lot of trees are cut down, leading to mass deforestation.
Actions must be taken as soon as possible to minimize the negative impacts on
environment arising from the increasing amount of consumer goods. First and
foremost, governments and governing bodies need to lay down strict laws and
penalties for manufacturers so that the harm caused by their waste and emissions to
the environment is minimal.Furthermore, people should economize on their amount
of goods to avoid overusing natural resources. For example, one can use bamboo
paper instead of wood paper, since bamboo is a fast-growing species of plant .
In conclusion, the increasing production of consumer goods is severely affecting the
environment. To address this issue, governments and each individual should
contribute as much as possible.
