Summary of testing:
Performed were measurements of the photometric performance of the 300 mm optical units in accordance
with EN 12368:2015, Clause 6 on the test module.
All optical units were preconditioned with the burn-in time according to clause 8.2 of EN 12368:2015.
Red and green signal inserts were preconditioned with constant on burn-in time of 30 minutes.
Yellow signal insert was separately preconditioned with 15 minutes burn-in time and flashing mode with 1
Hz frequency and duty cycle 50%.
Measurements were performed at ambient temperature from 23,2°C to 24,7°C and power supply voltage
230 Va.c. for daylight mode and 160 Va.c. for dimming mode.

Based on measurements the optical units confirm to the following classes for particular type of
signal beam width at 230Va.c. (daylight mode) at reference axis:

Additional tests:

In enclosure 1 are presented additional single fault tests, which are not covered by EN 12368:2015
standard. The single fault tests simulate one failure situation at a time for each LED element
provided.
The Futurled 3R products are equipped with the software control and first failure detection.
Since the 300 mm signal units are provided with 3 LEDs in red and green signals and 4 LEDs in
yellow signal, the failure was performed on each led diode individually.
In all cases first LED failure results in continuous operation with increased LED current through
other LEDs. The increased current contributes additional light which was lost due failed LED
element.

Encl. 1 Failure mode analysis – Single fault testing P

General information about the product: P
The Futurled 3R products are equipped with the software control circuit.
Circuit is running a programme that continuously monitors LED current
and voltage. In an event of failure occurrence on any of LED elements the
controller is programmed to bridge the failed LED diode and to continue
operating the signal with remaining LED diodes in so called first failure
mode. In an even that the second LED diode would fail the signal would
immediately permanently turn off and revert to high impedance mode,
which shall be detected by road traffic signal controller. Signal controller
(not part of investigation) shall enter the traffic safety mode by means of
yellow flashing lights.

Test setup:
300 mm signal units are provided with 3 LEDs in red and green signals and
4 LEDs in yellow signal. The failure was performed on each LED diode
individually. All LEDs regardless of configuration are always connected in
series. In case of failure the LED can represent open circuit or short circuit.
Both occurrences are dependent on the particular LED element. However
the control circuit detects both occurrences and performs same action,
bridging the failed LED with external thyristor.

Test was performed on signal inserts with 3 LEDs (red and green) and on
signal with 4 LEDs (yellow). For each test central light at reference axis
(0/0°) was measured and recorded in the Table E.1.

Test Before Single failure test central light was measured with all LEDs ON
(normal operating condition).

During the Single fault test the central light is increased by increasing
current through remaining LED elements, to achieve sufficient light for the
signal to operate within the same performance level in accordance with the
Table 1 of EN 12368:2015.

accordance with Table 1 of EN12368:2015.
Performance level class A2/1 designates Imin = 200 cd and Imax = 800 cd.

Conclusion:
Above measurements confirm that signal inserts supply ratings remain within the specified supply
input ratings and below specification.
• Nominal current (derived from nominal supply voltage and power)
• THD(i) (< 29%)
• Power Factor (> 0,94)
• In rush current (< 20 times nominal current)
• Power consumption (< 9,5W; with tolerances < 10,0W)

The operating voltage is

• 195V to 260V / 50Hz (+/- 5Hz) (bright mode)
• 160V +/- 10V / 50Hz (+/- 5Hz) (dimmed mode)

None of the above required ratings were exceeded at nominal supply ratings.
Inrush current was less than 20 times the nominal input current.
