The Legacy of Dr. Abdul Qadeer:


Dr. Abdul Khan emigrated from India to Pakistan during the time
of the partition. He was born in Bhopal and later relocated to Karachi. His father, a dedicated
schoolteacher, served in the education ministry.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer completed his Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in solid-state
physics at the University of Karachi. Following his tenure at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation,
he applied for a scholarship that granted him the opportunity to further his education. Dr. Abdul
Qadeer embarked on a journey to Germany, subsequently venturing to West Berlin for advanced
studies. It was in West Berlin where he earned an engineer's degree in material technology, an
accomplishment equivalent to a Master of Science.

Achievements:
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is widely recognized as the driving force behind the
establishment of nuclear capabilities in Pakistan. Through his dedicated efforts, Pakistan became the
first Islamic country to achieve nuclear power status. Pakistan conducted a series of successful
atomic bomb tests in Chagai on May 28 and May 30, 1998, consisting of six explosions, which
marked Pakistan's official declaration as a nuclear power.

Awards:
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has been honoured with two prestigious awards in Pakistan. He
received the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, which is the highest civilian award in the country and is a symbol of
exceptional excellence and contributions. Additionally, he was awarded the Hilal-I-Imtiaz, the
second-highest civilian and military award in Pakistan, recognizing his significant achievements and
service to the nation.

Administration at Pakistan when case put on Dr Abdul Qadeer:


During the period when accusations were levelled against Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, Pakistan was
under the administration of President Pervez Musharraf, who had imposed martial law. Pervez
Musharraf came to power by removing Nawaz Sharif and subsequently handled the national hero
responsible for Pakistan's nuclear capability in a manner that many perceived as lacking expertise.

Case file against the dr. Abdul Qadeer:


During Pervez Musharraf's era, allegations were made against Dr. Abdul Qadeer
Khan, suggesting that he had illicitly shared Pakistan's nuclear secrets with other nations. These
allegations led to a case being filed against Dr. Khan in 2004, in which he was accused of
involvement in the unauthorized sale of nuclear technology to foreign countries.

House arrest of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan:


Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan faced house arrest in Islamabad in 2004 when the case was
filed against him. During this time, his movements were closely monitored, and he was unable to
leave his residence. It wasn't until February 2009 that the court lifted the house arrest. In 2006, Dr.
Khan was also diagnosed with prostate cancer, but he successfully recovered after undergoing
surgery.

Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan’s response:
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan expressed deep disappointment with the Pakistani
government's actions and its treatment of him. He voiced his frustration, stating that he would no
longer contribute to the country. He felt that the government was unjustly targeting him with baseless
cases and punishments. When inquiries were conducted, some of which involved American
involvement, he maintained his composure, handling the investigations patiently and seeking
protection from Allah Almighty for himself and his colleagues who were involved in these matters.
