story based on the
same moral. Enjoy!
MORAL-UNITY IS STRENGTH.
POINTS TO REMEMBER
• Kollugudipatti- a small village on the Melur Tirupattur Road in Tamil Nadu
• At the entrance, a stern message- HUNTING PROHIBITED- greets you.
• Two aims of villagers: 1. to looks after the interests of the village.
2. to protect the migratory birds.
• The migratory birds such as egrets, spoonbills, cormorants and night herons
visit the village in July and hatch their eggs in the month of Deepavali.
• The birds are treated with great respect by the villagers.
• The villagers have unanimously decided to celebrate silent Deepavali because
the noise of the crackers scare the birds away. They believe that if the birds
fell from the nest, they will never roost again.
• They feel that their village will never be the same if the birds never came
again.
