TEXT PROCEDURE A. Understanding Procedure Text Before explaining about generic structure, the characteristics of procedure text and examples, I will begin this explanation defining the definition of procedure text both in English and in indonesian. " Procedure text is @ sequence of actions or steps". So what is meant by procedure text is a genre of text that serves to describe how something is done or achieved through the correct sequence of actions or steps. B. Purpose of the Text Procedure ‘The communicative purpose of procedure text is how an author is able to understand the reader about how to do, complete or achieve something in a coherent and correct or procedural manner. Actually judging from the terms, we certainly can understand what is meant by procedure text. So maybe this is one genre of text without being explained before but we can already feel what the purpose of this text is. C. Generic Structure Procedure Text 1. The Goal of Activity In this section, the author tries to explain what will be made or achieved through 2 series of steps that will be explained in the next paragraph so that the reader does not misunderstand what is being discussed. 2. Any Material Needed for Procedure Once the reader knows what is going to be made or achieved, then the writer describes the material or materials that must be prepared or needed so that something can be achieved well. So make sure all ingredients or materials are complete before starting to make it. 3. Steps to Achieve the goal If the materials or material needed are complete, then the writer tells the steps that ‘must be done in harmony or sequence. So in this section the writer must explain it in sequence and not be jumped. 4, Conclusion The conclusion which contains the final results of what has been done in accordance with the steps that have been determined, D. Characteristics of Editor's Text Procedure Focus on general human agents. Use of present tense. often Imperative / command forms, such as: make (use), use (use) etc. Use temporal conjuctions (or numbering to indicate sequence).
