Recount Text

In in this case I will discuss about Recount Text. Okay for detail of Report Text, Let’s
go to the topic.
Function :
Literally, recount means "telling". So recount text can be interpreted as "Text that
tells".When referring to the information in the school books (read: English Book for Junior
High School /Senior High School).Recount Text is a text that telling the reader about one
story, action or activity. Its goal is to entertaining or informing about the past activity to the
reader.
Generic Structure of Recount Text :

1. Orientation :tells who was involved, what happened, where the events took place, and
when it happened.
2. Events :tell what happened and in what sequence.
3. Reorientation : consists of optional-closure of events/ending.

Language features of Recount text :


 is written in the past tense (she yelled, it nipped, she walked)
 frequent use is made of words which link events in time, such as next, later, when, then,
after, before, first, at the same time, as soon as she left, late on Friday)
 recounts describe events, so plenty of use is made of verbs (action words), and of adverbs
(which describe or add more detail to verbs)
 details are often chosen to add interest or humour to the recount.
 use of personal pronouns (I, we) (Personal Recount)
 the passive voice may be used, eg. the bottle was filled with ink (Factual Recount)

My Holiday in Bali

When I was 2 grade of senior high school, my friends and I went to Bali. We were
there for three days. I had many impressive experiences during the vacation.
First day, we visited Sanur Beach in the morning. We saw the beautiful sunrise
together. It was a great scenery. Then, we checked in to the hotel. After prepared our selves,
we went to Tanah Lot. We met so many other tourists there. They were not only domestic but
also foreign tourists.
Second day, we enjoyed the day on Tanjung Benoa beach. We played so many water
sports such as banana boat, jetsky, speedboat etc. We also went to Penyu island to see many
unique animals. They were turtles, snakes, and sea birds. We were very happy. In the
afternoon, we went to Kuta Beach to see the amazing sunset and enjoyed the beautiful wave.
The last day, we spent our time in Sangeh. We could enjoy the green and shady forest.
There were so many monkies. They were so tame but sometimes they could be naughty. We
could make a close interaction with them. After that, we went to Sukowati market for
shopping. That was my lovely time. I bought some Bali T-Shirt and souvenirs.
In the evening, we had to check out from the hotel. We went back home bringing so
many amazing memories of Bali.

LATENESS
Last morning, Dinar, my roommate woke up late and she had to go to campus.
When she wanted to take her motorcycle, in fact she couldn’t move it because there
were some motorcycles that blocked up her motorcycle.
She tried to move all of the motorcycles, so that her motorcycle could move from the
garage. But she couldn’t do it.
Then, she called Adel who had that motorcycle which blocked it up. After that, her
friend who had that motorcycle helped her. Finally, she could move her motorcycle and rode
it to go to campus.

Generic Structure Analysis

Andi was on a plane. It was the first time for him. A stewardess always helped him.
And she also gave him food, drink, snack and candies. He thought, “How kind she is!”. Then
he heard an announcement, “Good morning ladies and gentlemen. This flight is led by
Captain Ferda. It will fly at an altitude of 28.000 feet. Well, ladies and gentlemen have a
pleasant flight.” Andi was so excited that he shut his eyes to look outside at the clouds.
“Wow, I am flying now.” He thought, “What an exciting experience!”

Holiday in Gunung Penanggungan

Last weekend my friends, Dicky, Vinda and Laras and I hiked to Gunung
Penanggungan. We started very early on Saturday from our village, Klandungan, and reached
Oro-oro Ombo for lunch after we hiked for almost 4 hours. We continued our hike. We talked
about many things along the way to the next stop. Sometimes we laughed aloud when our
stories we exchanged one another seem funny. We reached the next stop one hour later. It
was a hilltop. The view from this place looked very amazing. Then we walked off down into
the valley and there we camped for one night by the river in Gunung Penanggungan. I had not
been there before. On Sunday we returned by a small village – Desa Pasir Wangi -- to a
closest bus station. The climbing out of the valley was really hard for us but it was worth it.
