Word Shortcut Keys.
This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and
reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its Mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writer utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC)in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

Word Shortcut Keys.
Microsoft word is an important education application. It is important to
process raw facts into meaningful information. Microsoft word can benefits students
to create new innovative methods of learning and teaching. It was created by
Microsoft Corporation. It is an effective tool for making all kind of documents like
letters, updates, reports, research projects, and typesetting books and magazines,
and so on.

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning material while being an active
learner.

This module has the following parts and corresponding icons:

Expectations– This points to the set of knowledge and skills that


you will learn after completing the module.

Pretest - This measures your prior knowledge aboutthe lesson


at hand.

Common Microsoft Word Shortcut Keys

In this module, we are going to learn the Common Microsoft Word Shortcut
Keys. As we all know, Microsoft provides hundreds of Shortcut Keys. These keys
help us do our tasks or documents easily.

Below are the lists of the Common Microsoft Word Shortcut Keys:

1. Working with your Documents


These keys allow you to manage your files, either an existing or a new one.

Shortcut Keys Functions


Ctrl + N (New) To make a new document or file
Ctrl + O (Open) To open an existing file
Ctrl + S (Save) To Save your document
Ctrl + W (Close) To exit or close your document
Esc To cancel the command you had
Ctrl + Z (Undo) To undo your last command
Ctrl + Y (Redo) To redo your previous command
Ctrl + P (Print) To print your document
2. Text Editing and Formatting
These shortcut keys make it easier for you to edit and format the texts in your
documents.

Shortcut Keys Functions


Ctrl + A selects all the texts and graphics in your document
Ctrl + X (cut) it deletes the highlighted text to the clipboard
(copy) copies the highlighted text to the clipboard
Ctrl + C without deleting it
Ctrl + V (paste) pastes the deleted or copied text
(bold) makes the highlighted text in a bold or thick
Ctrl + B form
Ctrl + I (italic) makes the highlighted text in an italic form
Ctrl + U (underline) underlines the highlighted text
Ctrl + D opens a dialog box for changing fonts
Ctrl + ] increases the size of the highlighted text
Ctrl + [ decreases the size of the highlighted text
makes the highlighted text in upper case, lower case,
Shift + F3 and title case
Ctrl + Shift + L makes bulleted list
Ctrl + L aligns the highlighted text to the left
Ctrl + R aligns the highlighted text to the right
Ctrl + E aligns the highlighted text to the centre
Ctrl + J makes the paragraph or highlighted text in justified

you are working with.

Home It puts the cursor to the beginning of the line.
End It puts the cursor to the end of the line.
Ctrl + Home It puts the cursor to the beginning of the document.
Ctrl + End Puts the cursor to the end of the document.
Right Arrow It puts the cursor one character to the right.
Left Arrow It puts the cursor one character to the left.
Ctrl + Right Arrow Puts the cursor one word to the right.
Ctrl + Left Arrow It puts the cursor one word to the left.
Up Arrow It puts the cursor one line up.
Down Arrow It puts the cursor one line down.
Ctrl + Up Arrow It puts the cursor one paragraph up.
Ctrl + Down Arrow It puts the cursor one paragraph down.
F4 Repeats the last command you had.
