PRACTICAL PHygicg
‘The inability of a lens to focus the light of different colours (wave jengths) at a single point is called chroma
aberration, As a result, the lens has different focal lengths for different colours

Define the power of a lens, What is its $.1- unit?
1
Focal Tength (m)
Power of a lens
Its S.L unit is Dioptre.
Ram uses a lens of power of + 1.5 D ? What type of lens he is using?
He is using a convex lens.
What do you mean by aperture of a lens?
The diameter of a lens is called its aperture

aie vf & x)
What do you mean by parallax ? How it can be removed.
Parallax is apparent lateral shift in the position of the two objects (placed at different distances) due to the change
in position of the observer's eye.
‘The parallax between the image pin and the mirror image of object pin is removed by viewing their tips and
shifting the observer's eye sideways. If the image moves in the same direction as the eye, the image pin is too
far from the mirror and it should be brought nearer to remove the parallax. If the image moves, in the opposite
direction, the image pin should be moved further to remove parallax. This process should be continued till both
pins appear in the same position and the relative shift disappears.
‘What is index error? How this is corrected?
. Thedifference between the correct distance between the tip of the pin and the pole of the mirror and the measured
distance between the positions of the pin and the mirror as recorded on the scale of the bench gives the index
‘error. The correct index error, the index correction should be added algebraically (+) to the measured distance.
‘Name the lens which is used as magnifying glass or reading lens.
