OS Installation
• Switch on and insert the CD labeled “O.S. AXIOM Aristos Image System VB30F
(10093849 ) CD1” or higher into the CD drive. To restart, switch the power off and on
again.

NOTE SCSI drives can be recognized by an "S" at the end of the

model name, e.g. PlexWriter 12/10/32S.
If a Celsius 400/460 (green) PC will not reboot, a SCSI
CD-Rom drive may be installed but not is not recognized by
the “S”, however it will be listed in the boot menu under
“SCSI drives”. In this case, continue with a. and b.

• If installation is on the Celsius M410 with a SCSI CD drive and Celsius 400/460/470 ,
follow steps a. and b. below.
If M410 is with an IDE CD drive or another PC such as Celsius M430/M440, proceed to
the next step, skip a. and b.):
• a.Invoke the boot menu by pressing F12 immediately on the initial power-up screen.
For Fujitsu Siemens screens, you have to press the key before the screen displays the
Startup menu.
b. When the boot menu is shown, select SCSI CD Drive and <Enter>.
• When prompted, “Confirm to DESTROY DATA on first...”, confirm with <Enter> . A
reboot will occur and with a M410 with a SCSI CD drive (if IDE CD drive, proceed to
next step, skip a. and b.):
a. Invoke the boot menu by pressing F12 immediately on the initial power-up screen .
For Fujitsu Siemens screens, you have to press the key before the screen shows the
startup menu.
b. When the boot menu is shown, select SCSI CD Drive again and <Enter>.
- If you fail to press the "F12" key at the right moment, there will be an error message
saying "partition not found". Restart the RADIS PC and perform this step again.
• When prompted, set the following values. To navigate, use the arrow keys.
• "Distribution type: Customer"; keep the default value.
• "UDB file: on CD-Rom"; keep the default value.
• Set the correct machine name as recorded (computer name = host name).
Press <Enter>, type in the machine name and press <Enter> again.
• Go to the next line with the arrow keys "Keep data on other partition(s)" and change
the selection to "Create partitions on hard drive 2" by pressing <ENTER> (the
ENTER key will toggle between "Keep data..." and "Clear partitions...").
• Go to "Continue Installation" and confirm with > Enter > Enter.
• Wait until file copying of the installation file starts.

nal is sounded (TOOT-TA-TOOT) (three beeps).
• Remove the disk.
• Reboot the XCU by unplugging and plugging in the "XCU X1" power connector.

Deactivating the Serial Mouse at COM 1

In some cases, the mouse cursor sticks in the top right corner when the RADIS PC is con-
nected to the XCU; this is because the RADIS PC thinks that an RS232 mouse is con-
nected to its RS 232 interface and interprets the signals from the XCU as a "mouse
command". To prevent this, the RS 232 mouse must be disabled on the RADS PC.
• Select Start > Run > "devmgmt.msc", using "Windows key", arrow keys and Enter
key.

Fig. 1:
• After starting the Device Manager, select the "Mice and other pointing devices"
hardware components and select the context menu with the right mouse button.
• Connect the serial XCU service cable to the Radis PC.
• Select "Scan for hardware changes".
- If the serial cable is connected, the serial mouse driver will be found and the mouse
cursor will begin to move by itself.
- If the “mice and other pointing devices” was not found, repeat “scan for hard-
ware changes” several times.

PC and click on "VD01A" (or higher) under "XCU floppy Software of Aristos MX".
A copy routine is started and the floppy is created. When doing this, observe the sys-
tem messages and, where applicable, acknowledge them.
• For Aristos TX only: Insert a blank, formatted floppy into the floppy drive of the RADIS
PC and click on "VA02A" (or higher) under "XCU floppy Software of Aristos TX".
A copy routine is started and the floppy is created. When doing this, observe the sys-
tem messages and, where applicable, acknowledge them.
• Label the created floppy appropriately. Keep it for later use.

Downloading the new XCU Floppy

• Insert the floppy just created into the XCU drive.
• Reboot the XCU by unplugging and plugging in the "XCU X1" power connector.
• Wait until the SW has downloaded. After the program has downloaded, an audible sig-
nal is sounded (TOOT-TA-TOOT) (three beeps).
