QUESTION 1

Figure 1: Malaysia’s Export of sawntimber and MDF from July 2020 until July 2021
(eMaskayu Vol.8_2021)

Total export of sawntimber in July 2021 increased by 47 % in volume at 78,538 m³ and 51%
in value at RM160.9 million as compared to the previous month. However, cumulative
exports for the period of January to July 2021 decreased by 4% in volume but increased
slightly in value to 683,670 m³ with a total of RM1.3 billion over the previous corresponding
period.

Based on the figure and statement above, explain the export trend of sawntimber to Europe
region.
