Background Of This Surah
Before the prophet (pbuh). The people and prophets of bani israel used to live a very long life (eg: Prophet Musa-126 years). A longer life span meant more time for them to do good deeds. The night of power which is one of the termendous bounties of Allah (saw) enables us to worship equal to a thousand months in one night. It is one of the best islamic nights .Allah (saw) opens his doors of mercy upon us in this night and accepts all of our duas . This blessed night also helps us in our path to jannah Explaination of this surah As the name suggests this surahs is centered around the night of power .it is a night in which Allah (saw) shines his divine light onto the people on this earth in the opening of this surah Allah(saw) tells us that indeed the Quran started to be revealed to the last messenger during this night . remaining parts of the quran were send to our prophet during the period of 23 years the second verse of the Quran is a rhetorical question for the purpose of showing the esteem and glorification of this night because indeed us as believers can not understand the blessing of laylatul Qadr, that the Al- mighty has bestoned upon us the third verse implies that this single night is unbalanced to a 1000 months of continous worship. Any worship or act of obedience done to Allah during this night is as if it was done for more than a 1000 months The fourth verse tells us that during this sacred night Allah sends down Angels including Angel jibrail himself (the leader of the angels). They come down on earth to make dua for the worshippers to Allah and to celebrate what the All-knowing has decreed for mankind The fifth and the final verse of this surah tells us that, during this honorable night there is only peace and security from its beginning to its end . Allah only decrees in it good and safety for human beings. There are no catastrophes, disasters, earthquakes, thunder, floods, etc. There is only goodness and blessings the entire night. The angels, and Jibreel along with them, pray and send peace over every slave standing worshiping Allah or sitting doing remembrance (dhikr) of Allah. They do not stop descending on them until fajr
