2. Introduction
AVEVA Partners (OEMs or System Integrators), hereinafter referred to as “partners” are eligible to access
consignment development license from a currently owned consignment, or purchase consignment for
AVEVA Edge development licenses only, which expire in one year. The consignment must be purchased
(renewed) on a yearly basis, so the licenses can be re-issued (renewed).

Partners that already own or purchase the following consignment licenses (and support) are also eligible to
AVEVA Edge development licenses in consignment for no additional charge. Notice that the options below
have a higher cost, but also enables the partners to get development licenses in consignment for other
applicable products from the AVEVA portfolio in addition to AVEVA Edge (refer to the consignment price list
for more details):
- Development Studio Consignment
- Advanced Development Studio Consignment
- InTouch Dev Subscription 3K Consignment

Note: The consignment Part Numbers above are applicable for AVEVA Edge 2020. The consignment Part
Numbers for future versions will likely just have a different suffix (e.g.: EDGEDS-13-P-22 for AVEVA Edge
2022 instead of EDGEDS-13-P-20, which is applicable for AVEVA Edge 2020).

Consignment Licenses are “Development Only” licenses. Runtime licenses must be purchased and cannot
be requested as Consignment.

Customers eligible for AVEVA Edge development licenses in consignment can also enable InduSoft Web
Studio development licenses in consignment. The latest version of this product offered with the InduSoft
Web Studio brand name is InduSoft Web Studio 2020R2. Future versions will be available under the AVEVA
Edge brand name only.

3. Registration
The partner must register on the AVEVA technical support web site
(https://om.AVEVA.com/softwarewebID/) and select the “User Type” as one of the following options from
the online form in order to be eligible for consignment licenses: “OEM” or “System Integrator”.

An AVEVA Technical Support Center employee reviews the registration form filled and submitted by the
partner and sets another field with the actual “User Type” into AVEVA’s Active Directory system. The “User
Type” must be set properly to “OEM” or “System Integrator” for the Consignment option to be visible.

The partner must also purchase and/or renew an applicable Consignment License with Annual Support to be
eligible for consignment. To do this, the partner must send a Purchase Order (PO) for the respective
consignment license to the AVEVA distributor. Then, AVEVA’s “Operations” team fulfills the order and
provides a license certificate to the distributor, along with the “Serial Number” associated with the
Consignment Agreement. The distributor must forward this information to the partner.

4. Activation
The consignment licenses for AVEVA Edge are temporary Softkey licenses, which expires when the current
consignment agreement expires (up to one year). When/if the consignment license agreement is renewed
by the partner, they can activate the consignment license again.

As mentioened earlier, customers that purchase Consignment Licenses and Annual Support for AVEVA Edge
are eligible also for consignment licenses to InduSoft Web Studio. Notice that any version newer than
2020R2 is available only under the AVEVA Edge brand name (not under the InduSoft Web Studio brand
name). Moreover, projects created in InduSoft Web Studio are automatically supported by newer versions
of AVEVA Edge, but projects created in AVEVA Edge are not supported in InduSoft Web Studio.

4.1. AVEVA Edge development license in Consignment

The instructions to activate a consignment license for AVEVA Edge are available at
https://sw.AVEVA.com/support/intouch-hmi-activation, and described below in further details for your
convenience:

• Install AVEVA Edge on the development computer running a supported version of Windows
Destkop/Server (e.g.: Windows 10)

• Close AVEVA Edge (make sure that the process “Studio Manager.exe” is not running)
Run the “Register” module (Windows button > “Register”)

• Select “Softkey > Check > Change License”

• Select a Network Adapter that most likely will not be removed and does not have a dynamic MAC
Address (avoid VPN and virtual adapters).

• Copy the “Hardware Identifier”

• Visit our site (https://softwareom.wonderware.com/Licensegen/default.aspx) to activate the license.

You need your Wonderware credentials to log in to the site. If you are eligible to consignment licenses,
you will be prompted with two options: “End User Runtime Licenses” and “Consignment”. Select
“Consignment” and click on the “Submit” button to activate Consignment Licenses. The “End User
Runtime License” option must be selected for purchased licenses (not consignment). When selecting
“End User Runtime License”, the system will ask for the Serial Number of the purchased license. It is not
necessary to enter any Serial Number to activate consignment licenses.

• Select the consignment license for the version of AVEVA Edge that you want to license, paste the
“Hardware Identifier” from the “Register” module into the web form and click submit.

• If a valid “Hardware Identifier” has been entered, then a license “Activation Code” is returned.
Copy/paste or type the code in the “Activation Code” field in the “Register” module, and then click
Authorize.

• The new license settings are saved on the computer and a confirmation message is displayed
(“Activation Code Accepted”). If the new “Activation Code” is not validated, an error message is
displayed. If this happens, double-check that you have entered the “Activation Code” correctly. If you
still get an error message, visit technical support page to contact our technical support department.

Address (avoid VPN and virtual adapters).

• Copy the “Site Code” (notice that this code is called “Hardware Identifier” in AVEVA Edge)

• Send an email to edge.license@aveva.com with the subject “AVEVA Edge Consignment License
request”, including the following information:
o Partner company name (account name)
o Partner name (email address registered at https://sw.AVEVA.com/support/intouch-hmi-
activation)
o The “Site Code” from your InduSoft Web Studio installation
• If the requested information is verified by AVEVA’s team, then a license “Site Key” is sent back to the
requester. Copy/paste or type the code in the “Site Key” field in the “Register” module, and then click
“Authorize” (notice that this code is called “Activation Code” in AVEVA Edge).

• The new license settings are saved on the computer and a confirmation message is displayed (“Site Key

5. Remarks
Entities that are not eligible for consignment licenses (i.e.: end users, or even partners that do not have a
current/valid Development Studio or Advanced Development Studio Consignment license with annual
support), will be prompted to enter the License Serial Number directly. In other words, they will not get the
Activation page asking for “End User Runtime License” or “Consignment” when accessing the licensing web
page (https://softwareom.wonderware.com/Licensegen/default.aspx).

If it happens with a partner that should be eligible for consignment licenses, please contact
TechMaster@aveva.com reporting that the partner is not given the option to activate a consignment
license, and provide the User Name used by the partner to access the aforementioned licensing web page.
The AVEVA Technical Support Center team must verify that the partner has a current/valid (not expired)
Consignment License with Annual Support, and that their account is set in AVEVA’s system (Active Directory)
as an “OEM” or “System Integrator”. Then, the AVEVA Technical Support Center team must follow-up with
the distributor with the conclusions and the next steps required for the partner to have access to
consignment license. For example, if the user account was simply set with the incorrect user type in the
AVEVA system (Active Directory), the AVEVA Technical Support Center team can fix this setting, and the
partner should be able to access the “Consignment” option after signing off and signing on again to the
licensing web site.
