Do you think that strengthening the agricultural sector of the Philippines will
be a key to boost our economy? Explain your answer.

Yes. Th Philippines, although rich in terms of resources only has very limited business
industries. We have vast agricultural lands which are unexplored and undeveloped are often
converted into residential areas.

Historically, the Philippines during the encomienda system has derived a working system
whereby certain produce were allocated in each province where they are endemic. This not
only ascertained that there are no duplicity of crop and raw material production in the
Philippines but also that the whole country was abundantly supplied with the basic raw
materials and was even able to enter into new markets for barter. This of course has failed as
the system was discriminatory and archaic on aspects of manpower however such system has
given us a strong and stable economy.

With the knowledge, time, resources, and responsive laws, I believe the Philippines may
fashion such old system intro a working and efficient one. With abundant support for the
local farmers, coupled with appropriate governmental support in terms of financial and
infrastructure program, this can be an avenue for developing our economy. Not only will this
stabilize our food and raw material source, but it will also open our country for variety of
industries such as production, manufacturing, transport, construction, commerce, and many
more.
