FB in the nose :

 Only one sign - is foul smelling nasal discharge

Septal abscess :

 Bilateral nasal obstruction,

 Fever ,

 Sometime H/O of DNS operation

Ethmoidal polyp :

 Nasal obstruction,

 Nasal discharge,

 Sneezing,

 Loss of smell (anosmia)

Primary atrophic rhinitis :

 Greenish Crusts ***

 Foul smelling

 Anosmia
 Nasal obstruction/ discharge

Chronic maxillary sinusitis :

 Facial pain

 Nasal congestion

 Purulent discharge

Throat

Tongue ulcer :

 Non healing ulcer with raised margin,

Enlarge adenoid :

 Mouth breathing,

 Nasal obstruction,

 Snoring

Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma :

 Epistaxis

 Nasal obstruction/ discharge

 Anemia/ Check swelling

 Young age **

Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma :
 Epistaxis

 Nasal obstruction/ discharge

 Old age ** (>20)

 Lymph node may involve

Acute follicular tonsillitis :

 Sore throat***

 High fever

 Palpable tender Lymph nodes

 White patches**

Peritonsilar abscess :

 Unilateral sore throat

 Fever

x Dysphagia

 Muffle voice

Acute retropharyngeal abscess :

 X-ray shows - widening of laryngeal space

 High grade fever

Achalasia cardia :

 Dysphagia more for liquid than solid

 Regurgitation of food/ vomiting

 Weight loss
Carcinoma oesophagus :

 Dysphagia More for solid then liquid

 Weight loss

 Regurgitation of food/ vomiting

Acute laryngitis :

 Severe sore throat

 Fever

 Dysphagia

 Dribbling of saliva

Acute epiglottis :

 Dribbling of saliva

 Respiratory distress

 Sitting upright position

 Thumb sign**

Multiple papilloma of larynx :

 Hoarseness of voice *

Carcinoma larynx :

 Thyroglossal cyst :

 Moves with swallowing

 Protruded tongue

 Midline neck swelling

Pleomorphic adenoma :

 Parotid swelling

Simple goitre :

 Moves with deglutition
